    He would be terrible as a GM, a total trainwreck. Isaiah 2.0 waiting to happen (not that I think it ever will though).

    He'd just trade for and sign these old vets to long term deals. Shaq for example. He'd fail miserably.

    Charles has a big man bias too. He's just going to overrate some big guys who are just strong and big with no other talents.

    Not sure if I would include Bird in that list. He did a heck of a job with Indy.

    GM of what? Managing general doughnuts?

    He provides great insight, and dry / wry humor (sometimes innappropriate ;) ), but he will fail, and fail hard as a GM.

    He hasn't even been a coach, or any position within management in the sport of basketball.

    Barkley ready to be GM - the great eye for talent that said Yao would not score 18 in any game in his career, and picked the Rockets to win <20 games with this year's roster?

    Delusional.

    Great players != Good management

    signed,

    MJ and Isiah Thomas.

    The amount of bad contracts NYK had were ridiculous during Isiah's stint as coach/GM there and MJ, well he used a #1 pick on Kwame Brown.. nuff said..

    This begs the question, is it even possible to do worse than those 2? If anyone could fail harder at the GM role than them, it would be Barkley. That being said MJ and Isiah have definitely set the standard of failure pretty high for player/GMs so the prospect of Barkley as GM is intruiging in that regard....

    I think he was a very good coach, but he has been a disappointment as a GM. Indiana has been in the lottery partially because of the poor choices that Bird has made. Don't let their wins against us fool you.

    Didn't he want to be governor of Alabama as well. Let's not take him too seriously it's just his motor mouth in over drive.

    GM, really? Isn't this the same guy that said Yao would amount to nothing?

    I'm surprised you're the only one who pointed this out. That was my first thought reading the title. How is Barkley not considered a Sun... or even a Sixer, before a Rocket?

    Ha! Same thing I thought of. I mean words cannot explain how turrible he would be as the boss.

    It would be like fantasy basketball and constant roster overhauls.
