The way it looks right now, Sacramento will almost definitely be taking DeMarcus Cousins with the 5th pick in the draft. With Jason Thompson, Spencer Hawes, and Jon Brockman on the roster already, Sacramento will have a hard time finding playing time for developing their young bigs. I believe this could make Landry available for us to get back, given we can give them something in return that they need. The only question is.... what do we have that they need? Looking at their roster is seems that they are in desperate need of a true point guard and Kyle Lowry would fit in perfectly. If Lowry is adament on leaving this summer to start somewhere and is asking too much in free agency, we could involve him in a sign and trade for Landry and take on Nocioni as well to make the numbers work. This does leave us with a hole at the backup point guard position but that could be addressed a number of different ways. Maybe picking up a Veteran like Eddie House for relatively inexpensive. That is just one trade scenario but I would be interested to see if anyone has any other ideas that could work. Landry comming back home could give us the inside scoring that we need back. The only problem with this would be having too many assets and Morey would have to find another trade to get a smaller roster. Thoughts??? PG:Brooks, House SG:Martin, Budinger, Taylor SF:Ariza, Battier, Nocioni PF:Scola, Landry, Hill, Jefferies C:Yao, Hayes, Future Rookie Center
I think he is more talented than Jason and Spencer, so I don't think they'll be thinking about trading him.
You mentioned Jason, Spencer, and Brockman. Sacramento can just get rid of them and still keep Landry since he's the better player.
The point is if Lowry is wanting to go to a team this summer that can give him the starting job and a nice contract to get something back in return for letting him walk.
Then the same is true, taking on Nocioni's contract in exchange for Lowry is not worth Carl Landry. We sold Landry high and got Kevin Martin, I don't think he's stock will ever reach that height again, given his poor numbers as a starter.
No. Barring him coming back as a free agent it won't happen. Landry is too good for a team to let him go without getting something big in his place. I love and miss him tremendously but it will not happen. On the likely-ness scale of happening, it barely edges out LeBron signing with Houston.
Hopefully having a healthy Yao back will take care of the inside scoring problem. Also, I personally can't stand Eddie House.
Me either, its just one of the many Veteran point guards that could be available for a one year deal. I could have mentioned Rafer too... but spared that one.
I don't think it is going to happen. We need a true big forward that can dominate the paint and score at will... I loved Landry, but I don't think it is worth it
I don't see them letting Landry go, but who knows. Even if they do....do we have/make room for him? We've got Scola and Hill, and we may pick up another PF/C. I would love to have Landry back on the team, but we may struggle to get everyone minutes.
I like Mandry but he will never be better than he was with us. We definitely sold high on him and I still believe we got the better end of that deal. There is plenty of PF/Cs on this draft I would rather take on the cheap and up to 4 years on rookie scales than have to give up assets for him.
