Man Im watching the Best Damn Sports Show, and here I am listening what they think of Yao. JOhn Salley is an idiot, why is he on the show. The only reason he won a championship with the Lake show is cus of shaq and Kobe he didnt contriubute at all maybe in Detroit but those days are long gone. Anyway he said it was inexcuseable the Yao missed a dunk, well hes right but he should be talking he could bearly touch the rim when he was in LA. Well Anyway i thought id let u all know, even though i know u all do
John Salley was a good player in Detroit. But after they won two rings it when to his head! He changed. He was a LA hater for years. Then, when Shaq and Kobe started in LA, he became their "best friend." Now, anyone that talks trash about Shaq is the devil. He has no opinion of his own; he only goes with the crowd. He's a poser, now. They should replace him with another former NBA player.
i dont mind sally...micheal irvin on the other hand...ill stop now...just thinking about it makes me mad.
He was a good 6th or 7th man. At best he was mediocre. And what's this crap about missing a dunk being inexcuseable? Who in the NBA hasn't?
John Salley's a racist. Certifiably! That's his only niche and the only thing he's willing to debate on the show. I want to punk every time he looks into the camera smugly just after someone has made a comment he finds offensive.
John Salley's no racist. He was a quality player during his prime and it would be a miracle if Yao came close to his skill. Any guy that is 7'6" and misses a dunk is a douche, no questions asked. I don't care if you're Chinese, Black, Arab, White, or Eskimo, missing dunks when your hands touch the rim standing is unacceptable. How much attention did MJ get when he missed a dunk in the All Star game? And he's a foot shorter.
I seem to remember Shaq and Hakeem missing some dunks, and they have been the last 2 best centers. And Shaq's about 7'1. I would imagine that he got a little contested.(by little, I mean he should have made it, but he was not 10 feet in the clear.) When Michael missed, I believe it was wide open. And, unless I got the wrong JS, he only avg 10,4, and 1.5 blks his best season. I think Yao could do that, probably this year.
Elgrando, If he misses dunks on a regular basis, you can make a big deal out of it. Yes, he's tall, but he is human.
As far as the missed dunk. Yao, being 7'6" shouldn't miss it. But, it was obvious that Yao was fatigued. CD and Rudy will whip him into shape before the year is over!
Besides missing a dunk, Yao also brought the ball down far too low and was no stronger than a junior high schooler when trying to secure the ball. The guy has fundamental problems.
Why is ElGrandeQueso not banned? Its obvious that no matter what Ming does, nothing will stop his hating. Hell, he hates him so much he sets up a website just so he can tell the world he hates him. Who wastes that much time hating someone that he's never met? There are a lot of graduate psychology majors who would love to have a closer look at you. And they'll pay you for your time. Trust me. This is a classic case study if there ever was one.
why is missing a dunk even a friggin discussion? who cares? this isn't about yao either, when jordan missed that all-star jam it was the same crap. EVERY SINGLE PLAYER MISSES DUNKS. el grande queso, please shut the %$#@ up. give in man, your excuses are getting laughable.
Don't you have anything better to do with your life than to antagonize Rocket fans? It's getting old you know.
He is better than most of the US players thought but it's ok to talk about his weak points too.He does have a strong upside and will get better with time.
Yao was fatigued. I mean i bet that was the first dunk hes ever missed in his life. Even Stevie Franchise has missed some Dunks and Cato has made it aliving missing dunks. Just cus he missed it doesnt effect the kinda player hes gonna pan out to be. Im 5'10 and I sometimes play on the 8 footcourt with my friends just to you know feel special like we can dunk. Anyway I have missed a dunk or too and i mean im a pretty decent player, the guy is human, and so are all of us. I mean there is no excuse for me not to dunk on a 8 foot court. I mean i feel like ming when I play on that court. My point is hes probebly gonna miss 1, 2, 3, maybe 4 more, but I garantee you hes gonna have a double double each of those games, maybe even hit the game winning shot.
El Pequeno Velveeta (I mean ElGrandeQueso)-- I had been warned about you but read anyway...my bad. I wouldn't bet my house on that one. Salley's stats weren't all great...Yao should be able to amass at least the same statistical prowess as Salley. I have a question...is this the best analysis you can come up with? Do everybody a favor...don't apply for that analyst job at ESPN. How about Hispanics and Pacific Islanders??? Is it acceptable for them? They weren't in your list...as eloquent as it was. So you play against him. I'd pay to see you get beat by somebody no stronger than a junior high schooler. Well...you're good for a laugh at least.
Why does Ming have to do things to make ElGrandeQueso stops hating him. What does ElGrandeQueso think he is? Like Ming would shed a tear if ElGrandeQueso refuses to become his fan.
Now that's funny that John Salley would say that Ming should never miss a dunk because I remember once a few years back when Salley was wide open from a stolen breakaway and the crowd routed him to dunk and he jumped up to dunk except he didn't get high enough and he dunked the rim so hard he fell backwards. I agree though that people don't forget when you miss like for instance that one never left my mind(I think becuase I also was hoping for him to dunk, him being older and all). I remember not too long ago Hakeem did this too missing on the rim. As for Shaq I have seen him miss a ton of dunks(he just dunks way too hard) and funny thing is I remember once that he missed two dunks in one game. Kobe also has miss many dunks esp. when he came back from injury. In the summer league I saw Amare Stoudimire miss close to 5 dunks in one game. Even when MJ was at the peak of his game I remember when he missed a breakaway dunk during the Portland Finals. Everyone is entitle to missing a dunk every once in a while.
I think Ming should take that as a compliment. John Salley thinks so highly of Ming that he thought Ming should 'never' miss a dunk. He must be thinking Ming is a superhuman or something. We should just remind Mr. Salley that Ming is only human.
