If the goal is to feasably get a guy and win a ring with Yao in the next 2-3 years, Amare is the best bet. Might not be a good move 5 years down the line, but gives us the best reasonable shot for the next couple.

I agree that the Rockets are somewhat "stuck" with the "Yao Plan" but that is largely a situation of their own making. This is Yao's contract year, so they don't have to be stuck, BUT the "cash cow" issue muddies the waters. From a purely basketball point of view, Yao is too injury prone to build a team around.

As far as plan B, I like Al Jefferson as PF and Brad Miller as a reserve center. I never really thought Bosh was coming here. The Rockets are developing a boat load of young talent, so who knows how good some of them will get. And, Rocket fans have not seen the best of Kevin Martin, Scola is solid and may take a reserve role, A.B. is approaching elite status, and Hill and C-Bud may have a very high upside. The Rockets will likely be better no matter what happens on the free agency front.

Sory Hill, i have to somewhat disagree. What you and alot of others don't seem to realize is, this team with, not just Yao, but any type of post threat, is so much closer to contention than you think. At this point with this team, Samuel Dalembert could help us contend. Not saying that i would want him on the team, just making a point. His inside presence alone would have benefited this team greatly.

if you are willing to take Bosh... then you must be willing to welcome Al Jeff to Houston.

Sure, he has some concerns that come along with him.But so does yao, martin, and basicly anyone that plays pro sports. Take Jefferson and be happy with the end results... IMO

If we could get Jefferson for cheap and not trade anything but one draft pick and maybe a bench player or two, I can go for it. But given his history, I'd hate to base our entire front court on Jefferson alone, especially given Houston's professional sports injury history, I'd be worried as fudge.

I know its completely unrealistic, but somewhere in the back of my mind I see us coming out of nowhere and getting Lebron :U

but anyways, realistically, move up in the draft (try not to give up core pieces of Brooks and Martin though. And keep one at least one of Budinger or Hill if you can't keep both, preferably Budinger IMO, but thats probably personal bias talking. And don't stockpile, move up and get a good player) even if we have to take a bad contract or something, and sign someone like Brad Miller to back-up Yao. The idea of Shaq coming here is certainly interesting but he wouldn't fit the offense.

I think the biggest problem is determining whether we're in the "win now" or "build a little more" mode. Our go to guys have reached their prime, and Yao's window is closing fast. On the other hand, we still have a handful of young players whose potential we have not fully witnessed.

Bosh is for win now mode, trading up the draft would be a build a little more mode. Whatever our move is, I have full confidence in Morey.

Emeka Okafor would be great I agree..alot of energy and presence on the court. But, I think Al Jefferson would be the best plausable alternative. Starting Center till Ming is good then Scola can be the third head of the 4/5 Beast. Al would have to start at either center or pf.

Try and keep Yao, AB, Lowry, Scola, Martin and prob. to much commitment to Ariza to move him yet.

Hill, Bat Man, Bud, Jefferies and our draft picks our main trade opts. 2 young promising talents and 2 Defensive Vet. specialist.

SuperiorBoy speaks! Honestly, what do you gain out of following the Rockets? You are so miserable all of the time. Plan B is having only $18,000,000 on the books after this season. That didn't happen by accident.

    Broly of course.

lol j/k too many dbz movies.

    ****

Plan B....ummm idk but the Al Jefferson move sounds good as does a move for Granger.

But I'm not sure if either player is available.

I get the feeling that Bosh isn't too interested in Texas for some reason.

I didn't see it posted anywhere so my apologies if already posted, but what about Zydrunas Ilgauskas? He would be perfect with Yao.

I can't pimp Al Jefferson enough.

If this team is in win now mode, they need to save Yao for the playoffs: Monitor his minutes and give him strategic rest.

So why would you bring in a compliment? Scola and Hill seem more than adequate compliments.

    You need a Yao replacement/insurance.

rubio = icing on the cake
