Uhh, the last time we played Germany in a meaningful game, we won 5-1 in Munich...
And the German equalizer in 66 came off a handball.

Complaining about the grass because of Slovenia's goal? Are they going to blame the grass for not being able to score against Slovenia too?

Hopefully in my lifetime Canada puts together a team good enough to qualify.

USA/Mexico will do for now. NA represent.

The mexican ref did a good job except on the red card, (was a terrible call)
but there was no handball on that play, the german player had his hand near his body, and doesnt seem like he had the intention to stop the ball.
I think he is not going to ref anymore on this world cup.
the first african team won (Ghana).

My friend who is a futbol fanatic has them in the top 5 so I took his word.

All I was trying to say that they're closer to 3 than 8 imo..

I don't think you can appeal it. In fact a 1 game suspension would be preferred; the hit, malicious or not, was hard enough to warrant a 2 game suspension. It was a tackle from behind, it was a straight red card.

I actually can see why the ref gave a red card, I do not say it was a good call, but when I saw it on the tv the first time, I understood the card. It depends on which angel you see it. So maybe it was not a good call, but it is understandable. From certain angles it looks very bad.

I'm getting annoyed by all the complaining the journalist and some player do.
    First you have the vuvuzellas:
In the Netherlands they cannot stop talking about it. Just ignore them. i do not think they are so bad. Maybe they can be annoying for the players, but for us fans they are not that bad. Maybe they are worse in the US broadcasts then in the Netherlands, but people should just stop complaining.

Then the ball, Every WC and EC people complain about the ball, it is getting annoying. The mistakes of the goalies had nothing to do with the ball, it were just bad mistakes by the goalies.

Now they also complain about the pitch.

It seems like players and journalist all start giving excuses for why they might lose. It is getting annoying, just enjoy the game. Why do people complain so much.

And yes it is ironic that I post a post complaining about all the complaining

p.s. just a couple of hours left. I'm getting excited.

    Just 30 more minutes.

It is great, the entire nation is shutdown, If ever any country wants to invade us, this is a perfect moment. The game is 13:30 local time. There was no traffic this morning, since most people took the day of. I took the afternoon of. Many people watch the game at their work. I work at a university, and most departments and chair groups have beamers to watch the game on a big screen.

I'm in Istanbul where it is really sunny and I should be outside discovering more of this great city, but hey, you gotta have your priorities straight - I'm staying in the hotel room and watching this game! Just make sure that Robben doesn't get hurt badly enough during the world cup for it to affect his upcoming season with Bayern .

I'm fairly confident that Holland will have a great game and that they will score plenty of goals.

Robben will not play before the game against Cameroon, and maybe not even then (my gues is 30 minutes). i think it is in all our interest that he stays Healthy

So will you be rooting for Holland? , Germany played great, looking forward to our semi-finals against each other

    Have fun in Istanbul.

15 mins! But really, will there ever be a tournament where Robben/Van Persie/Sneijder aren't injured at some point?

Thanks. Not sure about rooting for Holland as long as Germany is still in the tournament - I want weak opponents on our path to the final...also, it kind of goes against my natural instinct to root for Holland . Probably not before and unless Germany is out of the tournament!

But Holland doesn't need me to root for them - they will win their group. Big difference to past Dutch teams is that they have van Bommel, in my opinion. The offensive firepower is great and all, but his leadership will be invaluable.

I say 4-1, even though Denmark has been fighting bravely so far (and I traditionally like them).
