As always with the US national team, their goalie is their best player, because he has to be. James will start for the rest of the World Cup for England. Green is going to get murdered in the British press.

I also watch the games on the Spanish channel even though I have no idea what they're saying.

Glen Johnson played real well. He was solid at right back and put lots of pressure on the US by pushing forward and getting involved in the attack. He played a practically mistake-free game.

When the U.S. advances to the final and manhandles Spain, everyone will bow down to the great United States of America.

Just called my friends in the UK they are pissed at Green...but if you watch the replay it takes a quick hop and turn to his left .....

I don't think it was as bad as people are making it out to be, looks like a bad bounce...anyone else see that?

Yeah, it takes a little bit of a funny hop, but it's not that bad. That's why you have to keep the ball out in front of you. If you try to play it in close like that, you have no chance to recover. In baseball, Little League infielders learn that.

its just one of those freak things that happen once in a while.. and i agree, it was not THAT bad.

still England were pretty bad today.. no one can take that away.. i hope their piss poor play is not lost in all the "Green"-bashing

What about starting Gomez instead of Findley?

We need some pace, AND some scoring.

Agree that Jamo starts next match, disagree that they are career breakers as evidenced by the man formerly known as Calamity James.
Even Paul Robinson who had the last howler on the national stage for us has resurrected his career and I felt he should have been on the team instead of Greeny. What do I know, I'm not Don Fabio.

Where do I begin about this draw(loss)?

I need to have a drink before I begin talking about the HORRIBLE mistakes made by Fabio from the start. Granted he can't play on the field and can't make (UN)super Frank show up and play a good game at the same time as Gerrard but he still made bad mistakes.

It was bad for a professional goal keeper to make that kind of mistake. He should have used his whole body to keep the ball in front of him, but instead,
he just tried using just hands. If Howard were in that position, he would hav e definitely made that save.

Same thing that happened to Robbo when he had his mistake but he had a legitimate reason as it did take a ***** bounce. Greeny just failed to get behind the ball and took his eyes off it. Love the guy but he deserves criticism for his mistake. Same with any GK making that mistake, it's part and parcel of the position.

Good on Howard and Hahneman for consoling him after the match because they know how it'll be for Green.

Disagree. SWP is a headless chicken(even moreso than Theo) and should NEVER have been picked in the squad over Walcott.
It was compounded more today by having him replace Milner instead of JOE COLE! ARRRRGHHHH Fabio why????

He will probably be in the EPL if he keeps playing like this.

A tie is a pretty good result for the U.S. considering the difference in pure talent between the teams.

I thought Findley brought nothing to the table (a healthy Charlie Davies might've done better on a couple of those breakaway chances). Also, I cannot understand why Clark continues to start -- he doesn't seem to be as effective after his hamstring injury in the Spring. Edu or Torres would've at least brought some excitement on the pitch. Go USA!

Everything else you mentioned is fine but highly disagree w/ you on Heskey and I'm sure most of the pundits would too. Heskey despite his one on one miss vs Howard(It's Emile, no one in their right mind expects him to score, the lad couldnt score in a whorehouse) had a good game. He held the ball up well, found his teammates, did everything expected but score.
Crouchy is just more likely to score than Emile.

Terry is a defender and wouldnt have been noticed since the US didnt have wave after wave of attacking play.

What to say about Lamps, what to say?

It's a bloody shame he still plies his trade in Israel because he's been the most stable part of the Nigerian team over the past six or seven years and I cant count how many times he's saved the team from horrible defeats or losses in general.

Rubbish. Sorry man, Milner is a better player overall but nonetheless I would have preferred Joe Cole to start over both.

Heskie set up Gerrard on that goal...which was a bit of a fluke as the ball skipped over the original intended target right to Heskie, who put it perfectly on Gerrard's run.

None of you guys are giving credit to Oguchi Onyewu... I'm surprised that none of you guys think he was a key player to the 1-1 score. Overall the USA defense wasn't good at all, but Onyewu himself was great. Without this guy your defense would have allowed many more chances, he deserves as much credit as that been given to Howard, IMO.
