Probably could get Cousins with #5. Not sure if the Kings would do it that contract isn't as bad as say Elton Brand.
We can't help but speculate about trading with Sacramento or Memphis, they're on Morey's speed dial. The #5 pick in this draft will take a lot to pry away.
If we Rockets fans are apprehensive about trading for Biedrins, what makes you think that Morey could simply snap his fingers and trade him if he wanted to? Also, if Biedrins were a free agent this summer and the Rockets had the cap room, do you think Morey would sign Andris to a 4 year, $36M deal? I certainly don't. Look, I know that Biedrins would be a good fit as a backup to Yao. But the money simply doesn't work. If Yao turns out to be washed up, the Rockets are screwed big time. With Martin, Biedrins, Scola and a re-signed Brooks, there will not be much room left to pursue a major free agent next summer if they decide to part ways with Yao. And that core simply won't get it done in the Western Conference. Better to pursue a much cheaper (albeit not quite as good) alternative.
If we trade up in this draft for what the front office considers a future star player, this problems seems irrelevant. We're not going to bring in a major FA as is -- the way to do it is through the draft.
Uh . . . sure. I think DD was not talking about a Biedrins move in addition to a trade up to grab a future star post player. It was IN LIEU OF such a move. Trading up to get a guy like Favors would be great. But it's also not likely.
haha we'd be inundated with bigs. We'd be getting Landry+Nocioni+(possibly)Cousins TBH I don't like this trade that much. Besides, we'd have to give up a lot more up than you suggested for this trade to go down.
I agree, I don't think they would pursue a major free agent and would look to go as is.... If you add Biedrens to the current team sans Yao, they are a 50+ win team, and if Brooks, Martin, Lowry, Hill and Budinger improve, they might be contenders. I see your point though.....Biedrens is fairly expensive..... DD
You DO realize that the Kings are desperate for a big, right? If Cousins or Favors is on the board at #5, we have no chance to trade with them. The only trade down scenario for the Kings involve Wesley Johnson being left.
True, I'm kind of hoping the King's fall in love with Greg Monroe(C), forcing Cousins to fall to #6 to the Warriors, making it much easier to obtain him, giving that he wouldn't fit the up tempo style of the Warriors... --RB
I honestly believe that with the #5 pick of the draft, Sacramento will probably take a big like Cousins and that could make Landry expendible to them if Cousins pans out. Come trade deadline of next year, expect Morey to make a push to get Landry back at an affordable price give that... A. Hill, Draft pick are not producing at a high level off the bench. B. Injuries to one or more of our post players. C. Sacramento cuts playing time from Landry to give room for #5 pick, Thompson, and Hawes to grow.
False. No way Cousins being drafted to play the 5 makes the starting 4, Landry, expendable. That is just silly. Having listened to an interview between Bill Simmons and the Kings GM, no way he lets go of Landry. The organization is really high on the team's youth. Landry is a big part of that.
Are you forgetting about thompson and hawes? Right now landry producess more consistently than either of them. He's got a rebounding issue, but based on scoring and efficiency, Landry has the 4 spot locked up. If anyone is expendable it's gonna be thompson or hawes.
