    agree with this. well said.

these "team needs" type things seem to be spit out by low-level analysts with a bare minimum of information about each team. very uncreative, and pretty useless.

personally, i'll be shocked if the rockets:
    a) get Bosh. i think the odds are less than 5% he comes here.
    b) stay at pick 14 and pick a player to keep on our roster.
    c) don't trade at least one significant player off the current roster around draft time.

the rockets are unlike most teams in that their current situation necessitates creativity and a huge amount of foresight and planning, and they have proven over time that they are willing to do this. they aren't going to be prepared for next season with the simple return of yao plus whatever they get at 14. they know this, we know this, everyone knows this. it just remains to be seen what alternatives exist, whether that be this long-shot pursuit of Bosh, a quantity-for-quality trade, or a trade the future for now trade. it will be something besides the obvious though, and that's the one thing we can be sure of.

Exactly ! Since we have Brooks, Buddinger and Kevin Martin. These three are essentially Shooting Guards. Ariza is our main Small Forward, Scola and Hill are our main Power Forwards, Yao Ming is our main Center.

I see need for a starting Point Guard ( if one is available, such as CP3)
Lowry to be back up, also need for back up Small Forward and Center.

I see Battier, Jefferson, Andersen and Hayes + picks as our main trading components.

    Go! Morey! Go! :p

Memphis needs a PG, PF, SF.
    Minn. needs SG, SF, C.
Atl. needs SF, PF, C. (S&T Jeffries+Ariza and future pick for J. Johnson and #24 pick sounds perfect)
Point is we have what everyone wants as far talent goes.

although i agree that a team needs at least 2 guys on the floor that can create on the perimeter, i don't see why that has to be the pg and the sg, and not the sf. the roles of each position really depend on the coach and the roster. if bud was playing with rose and lebron, i'm pretty sure he would be just fine as a sg.

now, it just so happens that the rockets have a pair of sf's who can't create (ariza/shane) so there is more pressure to do so in the back court. if your point is he can't play sg next to ariza or shane because none are great at creating offense, then i would agree based on the fact that the lineup would probably have some difficulty in half court offense. if you are saying he just cant play sg in the nba because of his skill set, then i would have to respectfully disagree.

Yeah, On a different team with a Better Point guard or a SF that commands a DT and creates shots for Bud then of course he'd be OK at SG. Hell AB would be a good SG if LeBron was here. This team just doesn't have that type of playmaker on it (it used to be Tracy  ) anymore so until we get a SF or a PG that can comand a double team I say Bud stays at SF.

Let's be specific here!! Yes we could use a SG, but it has to be a slashing guard who can create his own shot. Too many of our guys are catch and shoot and cannot comforatable create their own shot or make plays for others. We need those type of guards.

I would say though, if Aldridge or Udoh is available, that is a much bigger need to fill.

This workout pretty much has all the "possible" available big's at our position...

Whiteside, Udoh, Orton, Aldrich and Richards(Int.) yesterday's workout for the Kings...

Jefferson??? I believe you mean Jeffries, the 6"11 guy who has been playing PF/C center for us.

He classifies himself as both actually and has the defensive and offensive skills to guard Shooting Guards.

He won't be there for selection anyway, his stock is rising massively.

The only fail is your joke status on the Raptor Forum where you get denied by Canadians.

I find it funny that people want to draft for need. Thats exactly how you pass on a Michael Jordan or a Hakeem Olajuwon..
You take the best player, he's an asset. Then you either keep that asset or trade it to acquire another asset.

Whiteside looks like a BUST in that Kings video. Impressed by Udoh's speed to get to the rim!

One thing that is evident in watching the Lakers/Celtics is the value of defensive length. Even if Yao is semi-dependable the Rox could still use some 7 foot D.

I say draft best player available regardless of position.

I remember how perplexed I was when we drafted Aaron Brooks knowing that we already had at least 3 other pgs on the roster at the time (Alston, James, Francis I believe). In the end, Morey had the last laugh and obviously the pick benefitted us in the long run.

If there are no good big men at the #14 slot that can contribute next season, then I say get our big man either by trades, FA signing, etc. Hopefully, Hill can continue to develop in the offseason and become the guy we can rely on to back up Yao.

That's the thing, didn't Morey say that if we stay at 14th he doesn't expect the player we draft to contribute next season..

Whiteside looking good. Looks like most of those guys have no idea how to not travel...

I think its Aldrich with the woeful looking shot. Looks a little like M Camby's shot - Ugly.

Whiteside will be known more for his shot blocking than he will for his offense. His offense will pick up in a year or two. I can see him being an 18/10/4blks a game player in 4-5 years.
