I beg for this thread be locked if it turns into another negative racially fueled discussion.

With that, while watching Sportscenter highlights of the game I could not help feeling good for the Chinese fans.

It's like I felt when Doug Williams won that Superbowl in 86. I didn't want the Broncos to lose because of racial reasons, but I was glad that finally a black dude could win a Superbowl (even if he didn't take them there).

I'm fired up as a Houstonian and a Rockets fan, and I look forward to talking, arguing, agreeing, disagreeing and high-fiving with Another Brother...from the east!

I'm glad for the basketball community in general, not just one specific cultural group. I would like to see basketball evolve into more of a multi-cultural game, which it has been doing lately with the emergence of foreign players. I think a lot of casual fans get turned off by the thuggish, gangsta image that they see on television being portrayed by guys like Iverson, Shawn Kemp, Rueben Patterson, Anthony Mason, Charles Oakley, Rasheed Wallace etc. I know I get tired of it. The game needs a "return to innocence" so to speak, and I think Ming could be a great torch bearer for that.

Whatever expands this great game is ok with me.

I think the Summit just got a lot more full for this last year.

GAWD, I can not wait for the season......

be careful TJ the gangsta image is a part of this thing called the 'hip hop' culture. if you hadn't noticed we are thrust in the middle of it, and most of us are 'casual fans' too.

    Four things:

    1. Chinese folks in the seats, Rockets mem selling all across China - awesome.

    2. TJ - good point.... but watch out because all of us are apparently in the Hip Hop era of culture. I didn't know this either until this morning when I b**** slapped my girlfriend because she used the wrong fruit spread on my English muffin.

    3. Dakota - hilarious Sig. Seems like you had a funny one before this too.

    4. I love these emotional feelgood posts by anotherbrother. So cheesey and corny like cheesy poofs.

I like how you were trying to simulate your anger through the whole countdown thing. Very funny! I was just waiting for you to say the word defcon.:)

But I don't know why you are angry, I was agreeing with you. We are in the Hip Hop culture and I like your feel good posts. The fact that they are cheesy like the whole high five thing is a little strange but that's ok.

Yeah me to thats why i've started watching bowling, i highly recommend it. There are no players that get Technical Fouls ( geez, technicals how thuggish is that). All the players are like Shawn ( oops Bradley that is not Kemp, scared you there for a minute didn't i). Well don't be scared come join our happy bowling community, and bring a friend maybe Legroup two asses are better than one.

I said a lot of casual fans get turned off by it, I didn't say that all fans get turned off by it. And I most certainly didn't say that you get turned off by it, JohnnyBlaze. So save it.

What is true is that *I* get turned off by the lack of sportsmanship, the off-the-court troubles, the taunting, the disrespect for coaches, practice, laws, regulations, etc. etc. All I'm saying is that Ming doesn't fall into this bucket. He has respect for the game, for his coaches, and probably has a much much lower probability of getting caught on Westheimer driving drunk. He returns the focus to the court and his abilities on the court. He is refreshing.

Hey JohnnyBlaze, F&*% you too! And if you bring that hilarious bowling sH*T up in my house I will send it back to to your Mama's &^%$**!

What was that crack on Tiger Woods for? I think he epitomizes what TJ was talking about when he was referring to someone who has respect for himself and his game.

LeGrouper -- yes you are absolutely correct. Tiger Woods is the epitome of class. He has immense respect for the game, has a squeaky-clean public relations image, and all-in is a great ambassador for golf.

JohnnyBlaze has proven himself incapable of a rational debate on the topic.

I like how you were trying to simulate your anger through the whole cussing thing. Very funny!:D. I really thought you were a stand up guy (i guess thats what happens when you judge someone from what you read). Well after that little outbust I'm sorry to say you can't join our bowling community there is no room for people who don't respect themselves and the game.

Crack on Tiger? your obviously not very smart either, you just wouldn't fit in.

I too am happy for the local Chinese community...if he's inspires a sense of pride as Chinese Houstonians, then I'm all for it!!!

Having said that, I feel like I can already relate better to Ming than I can to lots of other guys in the NBA. I have a hard time relating with an Allen Iverson type...I don't mean that as a stereotype, but he conducts himself in a way that I just don't understand all the time. I can't relate with it. I could easily relate with Hakeem, though...here's a guy who's trying to follow his faith while following this journey through NBA superstardom.

Listening to Ming talk, I can totally relate with the guy. He's a young guy just starting out with a ton to prove...and he really looks forward to the challenge. I can understand that...I can get behind that. That's EASY to root for!

I'm glad he's a Rocket!!! Seems like a class individual. And the Rockets have traditionally been a very classy organization.

I like the way you are simulating your "rational debate" with that whole Sir Jackie Chiles quote-someone-else and add-a-one-liner. I like the way you transcend race debates by crossing bowling boundaries, skimming over Le Group hiden wise cracks while he skims over another brother's wise cracks, and you even got in a Tiger Woods reference.

But don't f!ck*#$ break house rules again by ever bringing bowling into a Rabid (yet, casual in real life) Rox Fan forum of hip hoppers leaping across cultural boundaries to ride the same bandwagon, again.

    10, 9, 8, 7

    whoa.

    6, 5,

OK. I'm cool now. Give me a High Five from the house.

so, I've been thinking about getting a tatoo.
