Thanks! Was driving home and they said hey had him on leave it to clutch fans to save me a few clicks. Can you put up the David Stern interview from Rome's show too. Apparently he was more arrogant than usual.
go to 15:10 or so for Yao Ming talk and the playoffs where Cuban screwed us. He later got screwed himself.
Everytime I listen to this - what an idiot David Stern is. Anyhow, went back to listen to see what he said on how he thought they would ref tonight's game: RH: So for a game like tonight, Bill Kennedy, Bennett Salvadore, Danny Crawford - what should we expect? TD: I think a lot of whistles tonight, physical play. Matchup between Fisher and Allen going on. Has been fouls called on Fisher. Extremely physical between both. More illegal screens called tonight because Ray was able to free himself up and get wide open 3s. Celtics big man I think were sliding and picking off some Lakers defenders and I think if you view that on video, which I'm sure Phil did and sent into the league office, that in the meetings today, they were showed those players and make sure those defenders can stop and change positions and get around those screens or they'll be called illegal screens. Interesting stuff, interesting interview.
Riiiiiggght. This clown is only looking for suckers to buy his book. He goes on and on about how "corrupt" the NBA is but he can't seem to get a life and quit watching the NBA like he promised he would.
This "clown" took a lie detector test and passed. He was praised by the FBI for being honest and giving total disclosure during their investigation. He also received a VERY reduced sentence from the judge based in no small part on his cooperation with the investigation. I don't know about you, but I think that says alot about the veracity of his claims. I don't condone what he did (and he completely owns up to his own mistakes as well) but he paid a huge price for his lack of judgement. I honestly believe he is trying to do the right thing here and I believe him.
Well, KG was called for an illegal screen in the last minute of the game. Does his book talk about the stuff that go on "inside" the NBA? The officiating? Gay players? The officials' unofficial player profiles. That would sell.
His book does indeed talk about "inside" stuff for the NBA. Much of it is related to how the NBA dictates how the referees officiate playoff games, but there are other things as well. And the stuff he does reveal is fascinating (sad?)....things like small bets between officials in a crew about who can go the longest at the start of a game without calling a foul....or.... the officials making up there mind to "send a message" to specific players the officials don't like. Etc. etc.
Why does this guy keep getting attention. He's a criminal, and untrustworthy. Unless there is verification from other sources, I can't really believe a thing he says, even if I want to.
I find it hard to believe, Mr. Donaghy, that the entire playoff officiating crew would allow 3 out of 4 conference semi-finals series to be sweeps, and also that Lebron would bow out in 6 in the same round. If the NBA truly wanted to maximize its capital and had complete control of the refs, Lebron would be in the finals every single year. Referees are human and hold grudges--this is true in all sports. Refs get pissed off at people and they have long memories. But to have me believe that they deliberately try to alter the outcome of a game merely for the "company" and not when they have personal gain (like you, Mr. Donaghy) at stake, is something that I don't think I can do.
In the interest of fairness..... http://espn.go.com/blog/TrueHoop/post/_/id/16542/tim-donaghys-questionable-punditry
