man i hope! if we can't compete next year against those 2 at least we wouldn't be too many pieces away from being champions in the next 2 after that. (assuming yao can stay healthy)

There is a strong possibility that two or three of the above players won't be with out team next season. :p

Brooks is not better than Rondo. A better shooter, yes. A better player, no.

    Brooks/Martin > Allen/Rondo
    Lowry/Budiger > Tony/Nate

Overall, the Rockets have better guards.

I would say something like this

    Yao>Bynum>Perkins
    Bosh>Gasol>Garnett
    Pierce>Artest>Ariza
    Kobe>Martin=Allen
    Rondo>Brooks>Fisher

I don't think that there is much of a difference at all between Ray and KM at this point, and next year, Ray will probably decline more just because of age. I loved to see him light up LA last night, but he's got some miles on him now.

Also, Rondo is on an entirely different level than AB and Fisher.

    Brooks/Martin > Allen/Rondo Disagree strongly
Lowry/Budiger > Tony/Nate Agree. No doubt about it.

Again, I love AB, but he doesn't have the complete skill set that Rondo has.

Guess player mentioned in the following statement. (Hint: It's not AB) He joined Wilt Chamberlain and Oscar Robertson as the only other player in NBA history to have 29 points, 18 rebounds and 13 assists in a playoff game.

    Rajon Rondo.

If Brooks became too much of a problem, The Celtics can stop him. They've shown that, and they have done that to the very best.

Although I take it back. With Thibs leaving you can bet the Celtics team defense will take a significant hit next year.

Although I don't think the Celts could stop Brooks because of all the other options on the team...but we've had nights where no one else was able to step up.

This. Rondo is just too good.

Plus Scola = or > than Odom. Rockets' bench equal to Lakers, though it is tough to know who we will have.I do think our front line can possibly get us to the Western Conference Finals. The Lakers will be tough to beat, but we have a chance. The Kobe factor could be the difference. Can Aziza or someone slow him down a bit.

Honestly, Kevin Martin just does not come off as championship caliber. Against a team like Boston/LA where would have to work his tail off defensively, I just don't see it. He already is not adept at really creating his own shot, but imagine him trying to guard Kobe/or Ray while trying to score on them? I just don't see it happening. Efficient scorer against most average NBA teams KMart is, but not against the best teams in the league. He's a soft player too who flops wayyyy to much. He needs to be included in a package for Bosh or to draft Turner.

1.) Why would Kevin Martin EVER be assigned to Bryant with Battier, Ariza and Jeffries on the team? He might be on Allen, since Boston has 2 premiere wings but that is a rare situation and we still have 2 elite wing defenders to sub in if he can't handle it.
2.) Martin isnt supposed to create his own shot, he is supposed to be an off the ball player. The whole system is designed to not have a shot creator.
3.) Effecient offensively only vs. average teams...I have no idea if this is true, but based on the rest of your statements, Im going to go ahead and assume that is made up.
4.) Flopping is acting, Martin gets his guy into the air and jumps into him. If you want to get rid of him because of that you should go ahead and tell Scola and Lowry to gtfo as well.
5.) Morey has been trying to get him for years, he wont be included in any trade package nor should he.

If the chemistry is there....that is everyone understands their role and plays within Rick's system....and the basketball decision making by Brooks and Martin is there by the end of next season (Brooks i can see, but not sure about Martin)...then yes, we can contend with that group.
