Going one page back and replacing Hill...what do you guys think about Chase + #14 + Knicks pick or something of the sort?
We need a combo guard who can back up Martin and play occasional point if Brooks/Lowry miss some time.
There's a difference between "real popular" and having China as your home team. Right now, basketball fans in China might have him on radar after Kobe and maybe Yao, but this popularity doesn't permeate the population enough to reach the level of commercialization that he seems to seek. Only in the US, can he go anywhere and be the same advertising giant that he already is.
David Lee? Who would be much more expensive, and is not better than Scola. Scola is a very good player, and a nice person. We need keep Scola and Hill or go for Bosh, we do not need any players from the Knicks, but TMac.
ummm.... what? What stats? The fact that you seem to think Scola's winning pedigree overseas means jack **** in the NBA? Or that you accredited the 22 game winning streak to a rookie? Stop thinking Scola is a better player than Lee, he isn't. That doesn't mean he sucks, nobody is saying that. Just pointing out that David Lee is pretty ****ing good in his own right.
I should put a but at least I know Tmac's name in the Knicks team, I do not know any other good players in that team.
Why not David Lee? Considering the Rockets' need for a true superstar, it is unproductive to even consider David Lee (who is currently playing the "Shawn Marion" role in the Knicks' offense). Only Chris Bosh, LeBron James, Dirk Nowitzki or Dwyane Wade will elevate this team to a championship level.
How much <i>Pain</i> (giving up assets) would the Rockets take before they would have to tell Cleveland, <i>"thanks, but no thanks"</i> on a <i>Sign and Trade</i> for James? What would be considered a <i>Bad Deal</i> for the Rockets to get James?
How can you be certain? I agree on all of the names above except chris bosh. What did he do throughout his whole career besides putting up pretty numbers? and let's not forget about the detroit pistons of 2004. Were any of them superstars? no, they were basically bunch of role players + some borderline stars. What I'm saying is that chemistry is important, and if we get Chris Bosh, we will trade away many of our pieces, and there goes the chemistry. I would rather get someone cheaper. Lee costs like what? 10 millions right? I'm not saying we should definitely go after him, just someone alround his price range, that we can get for good services without giving up our chemistry.
It sounds like a perfect fit, but I just cant see it working. Maybe because of the media never mentioning us or whatever for him, but I dont know. We would be a media lovechild if we got him though
Couldn't we give away Brooks though? With Lebron paired with Kevin Martin and Yao Ming, I don't know if we'd really need Brooks offense. Couldn't we run Lowry and Sergio Lull or someone we can find? If we give up Brooks and either Hill or Budinger, maybe even both, along with the picks in a deal, wouldn't that be enough young talent for Cleveland to at least consider? And we'd still have Lowry, Martin, Yao, and Scola around Lebron which I think is a more than good enough supporting cast.
Kindly note that I believe nothing is certain in regards to predicting the impact of a free agent acquisition. Furthermore, this thread is not titled "Why not Chris Bosh". Let us leave the Bosh-related discussions to the appropriate threads. And I agree - let us not forget the 2004 Detroit Pistons. I thoroughly enjoyed their victory over the Lakers. If the Rockets head into the 2010-2011 season with the same personell as last season plus Yao, I still feel good about this team contending for a ring...however many players will have to improve siginficantly.
There is only a few questions: Is he significantly better than Scola? How much will he cost? Who will he cost? Rocket River
...and would the Knicks take anyone back in this putative SnT when cap room is the real estate boom they have created?
david lee? seriously? what is going on here? david lee is a nice player, but anyone who thinks that adding him and subtracting scola does anything for us is delusional. stop looking at box scores and look at what the player actually does on the floor. scolas intangibles get over looked by many on this board. his fighting for loose balls, not backing down when a lamar odom, a fisher, or an okur get in his face, those kind of things get seen by his teammates and fire them up as well. his passion for the game is a blessing to watch. im not going to lie i dont watch much knicks, not sure why anyone on this board would...if you have league pass their is much better teams to watch than knicks sorry your so bored. does he fire his teammates up like scola can? maybe i doubt it, the knicks suck and their seems to be some like trickling down effect over the years that the players dont really care whats going on...maybe thats just my perception. as much as i am against trading a bunch of assets and signing bosh to a max contract, i much rather that, then doing whatever it would take to land david lee at around 2-4 million more per year that he will make than smaller contract scola would demand.
I never said pain about giving up anyone or assets. I'm all for getting the best players. I'm just saying they would get everything and any player/players they wanted. If you wereput in this boat, where would u start? Yao,chase, this years 14th,the knicks pick in 2012 and the rockets pick in that year, battier, and make the rockets take jamison or williams probably. They don't need hill because they have hickson already. Lowry and scola are free agents.
