He is the classic story of an underrated player who was proclaimed by everybody to be underrated to the point where he became overrated.
What the hell do we run here? We play fast break type offense but we play better defense (sometimes) our PPG-102.37 The points we let opposing teams score -102.74 New York' PPG-102.11 the points NY let's teams score on them - 105.92 We were #8 in ppg this year and they were #10 Your bias is showing and your defense is garbage. http://www.nba.com/statistics/sortable_team_statistics/sortable1.html EDIT: and NY shot a better FG% so that shows me that whatever they did on offense of whom ever they had contributing worked.
If you paid attention to the stats, you would see this isn't the case at all, as Lee has always been an accomplished rebounder. As for the scoring, that is admittedly because of the amount of minutes he was playing. He averaged 37 minutes a night this past season. Regardless of that fact, he still managed to shoot 54% from the field with the increased offensive load.
Overrated or not, he's still better than Scola. Scloa is a nice player, but Clutchfans have a habit of overrating Rockets players who can score or shoot. I don't think Rockets would get Lee though.
Young Brad Miller was good, an legit all star at his peak. An old Brad Miller destroyed Rockets this season.
Different players, Miller was never the hustle player Lee is. Miller ran the Princeton well, even got himself looking like an all-star within Adelman's system... however Miller isn't an ambidextrous beast-man like David Lee is.
if we cut anderesn, sign lee (or any other free agent) and use a combination of the MLE and andersen's pay (i know he's gona get his money regardless) would andersen's salary still count against us in the luxury tax?
http://ripcityproject.com/2010/06/09/rumor-rudy-fernandez-says-yes-to-real-madrid/ If Fernandez agrees to a $0 buyout. Jermaine Taylor + Alexander Johnson (non-guaranteed) for rights to Joel Freeland + Rudy Fernandez (waived/bought out)
I agree with you on this one. If Lebron wants money, he stays in Cleveland or go to NY. If Lebron wants Championship, he has better choices than Rockets.
Scola has brought us to second round. Scola has given us 22 consecutive wins. Are you discrediting his olympic rings? What your DAVID LEE, has he been to the playoffs?
Hmmmm, interesting. I'm not so sure that Portland would value Taylor more than it does Freeland, though. I wonder if Rudy would be more apt to stay in the league if he was playing for the more "offensively-open" Rick Adelman instead of the more structured, half-court offensive style of Nate McMillian. If so, I'd be willing to part with JT, filler (Johnson/Harris non-guaranteed contract) and cash for just Rudy. I think Rudy would be a great backup to Martin (and it can't hurt in his mind that Martin has a history of getting injured). Budinger is more of a SF who was forced to play spot duty at SG out of necessity. Get . . 'er . . .
and besides, if you talk about upgrade, it should be a real upgrade, not just by a 1 or 2 points so to speak. this team can't win big this year without Scola. EVen if Yao play the entire season. we need a true veteran on the team.
just a small point but one advantage rockets have that no other teams have is: Yao Ming and the Chinese market!
I don't think Chase possesses the lateral quickness or outright speed to play the SG position full-time. While he definitely has enough athleticism and some quickness to be a competent defender at the SF position, I just don't see him as a capable defender at the SG position, nor do I think he can consistently drive by quicker defenders who can play him tight. Just my opinion, though.
