Crazy storm system running through Central / east Texas. Some parts around San Antonio have recieved 11inches of rain! It's 81 degrees outside here in east texas, and dark as night. Parts around Austin have had their share so far too. We've been in a drought, but yesterday and today. Lots of rain. Love dark, cool, and windy days during summer.
It's a nice relief from the 100+ degree weather I've been seeing here in DFW. My grass needs it, too.
We had less than an inch of rain in the month of April here, and something between 1-2 inches in May. Been a relief so far this month. Much cooler temperatures, pouring rain. Nice and dark. I LOVE IT!
Should arrive late afternoon. Hopefully it's raining hard when I leave work -- my car needs a good wash. The strongest still will me north of Harris country, though: http://blogs.chron.com/sciguy/archives/2010/06/here_comes_the_rain_again.html
Yeah, my wife's boss had to leave work to go try and "save" his lake house on Lake McQueeney near New Braunfels. Supposedly they've had some pretty bad flooding.
Live in Round Rock. We got pounded starting around 3 am. I swear the lightening was in my back yard and I've never heard thunder like that. It went on for what seemed like 10-15 seconds at a time. It's still raining, too. I'll probably have to find an alternative way home tonight since Brushy Creek will likely be running over Chisholm Trail Rd.
Off topic...That lake is a s***hole. I don't know how people don't die there every day. There's parts where it's maybe 30 yards across...less when you account for the docks. People are swimming literally feet from ski boats zooming by.
theres been a lot of rescues along the guadalupe river today. They have had 6+ nches of rain around new braunfels.
Yeah I live in Round Rock too, I swear the lighting was coming from inside my house or something...It was crazy last night...lol I was planning on playing some basketball today too! F this rain!
Never been myself. He (wife's boss) is a well to do dentist and my wife said most of the houses in his area are quite nice. I grew up playing on Lake Livingston.
They are having some SERIOUS flooding in New Braunfels. It's 74 degrees here now, freaking LOVE these temps.
Wow....all of us who live in Round Rock are representing today! Yeah, I noticed it all around 3:30 or so, as well. Woke my wife and I up....somehow, or 9 month old son can sleep through it,or not stir enough to start crying or anything. Anyway, we desperately need the rain, and I'm all for anything keeping the temps below 90.
The storm that came through Houston yesterday that supposedly knocked out power to 80,000..............it came up from the Gulf. I was in a 28 foot Glacier Bay about 35 miles out when it came overhead. The boat's owner thought it was just too big to outrun, so we hung out around an oil rig for about an hour as it passed overhead. Wild times. BIG waves.
We weren't so lucky. Woke my 1-yr old son up. My 4-yr old slept through it like a champ. He didn't even know it was raining when he woke up this morning. My dog, OTOH, is a complete p****. I had to put him in the laundry room.
