I'm indifferent, meaning I don't mind if a girl I'm seeing has them or not...Some can look trashy, but it depends on what it is and placement...

I don't have any, but lately, I have thought about having something small done representing my kids, not names, but symbols or something...not 100% sold but then I think I'd scream like a girl once the needle hits me...

Same here. And I actually know generally what I want and where I want it. Something that represents my son is a tree. It's solid, lasting, has roots, etc, etc...but even more, basically one of the meanings of his name is a type of tree.

It doesn't have to be a specific tree, and I haven't found one I love, but clearly it needs to look cool, right. I want to put it on the right side of my torso, kinda with the trunk coming up my side and the tree branches out somewhat on my front and back. it doesn't have to be huge, but i want it to be meaningful size. Somewhere along a branch or root I will have my son's initials and date of birth.

I plan on doing something meaningful for all my kids.

Would anyone be able to recommend a really solid tattoo artist in Houston for something like this?

If anyone on the board wants to design something, I'll certainly look at it.

Oh...and I have a ton of education and great job.

Yes, it must look cool. That's the whole purpose of getting a tattoo. A cool looking tattoo makes the person with the tattoo cool, right?

Just wait till after your trip then, no pool, no direct sunlight for a while. I highly suggest if getting one, make it something very important to you, something unique. Please nothing on the wall!!

I wasn't sure...that's why I added the question mark? I'd say thanks for the answer...but then, you don't know either, apparently! ;)

Thanks, amazing stuff...though something about his style that I'm not digging entirely. It may just be his gallery has nothing that Id' ever consider, but still, everything has a very tattoo-y cartoonish vibe to it, which probably doesn't make any sense, but I'm looking for more of an understated vibe.

I have a handful of tattoos (a few from my Navy days) but the most important one I'll be getting at the end of this month. My first son passed in '07 and I've been wanting to get his name on my chest for a while now. My wife plans to get his initials somewhere discrete as well.

I really don't care what people think about my tattoos. Just b/c you can see them, doesn't mean their advertisements or statements of some sort...not for me anyway. Some say the body is a temple, some say a vessel...I say both.

That sounds cool...my dad has our names on his arm/shoulder, I was thinking upper back/shoulder blade, maybe upper middle...nothing too big, nothing too small...something cool, but meaningful to me...

Sorry to hear about your son, but that sounds like a great tribute...

From my experience, it depends on where you're getting it. If you get it on your upper body, it won't be submerged in the chlorine water. I don't know if you swim in Vegas, but I'm more of the type to drink a bunch, catch some sun and not get in until I get hot.

The most important thing is keeping it moisturized with A&D while you're in the sun.

Get it now or this week and it will peel and heal before you go.

    Hope that helps.
