If we're really limiting his minutes, Yao can probably stand to be more aggressive on the defensive end at the risk of fouls regardless.

And yeah, we all just want a healthy roster throughout playoffs. That's all we need, I think, to make some noise.

Don't know if this should be good news. Let's hope he's injury free now.

Truer words have never been spoken, and this is why the Rockets need to find him a legitimate backup.

If Yao is counting on playing limited minutes, BEATLA's $20 tipjar bet doesn't look so good for him. ;)

As long as Yao is with the rockets, i think les alexander wouldnt mind spending $$$ on the team...I think he will retire a rocket.

Yao is too much of a marketing machine/money maker for Les not to keep him a Rocket. I love the big fella and I hope he is fully recovered come training camp.

I wonder if Yao is considering playing, say, 25-30 minutes a game for the rest of his career in order to hopefully increase his longevity.

If so, it would also be fair to ask him to take a pay cut from his current max salary. The team would need to hire a quality big who can play the other 20-25 minutes at C in order to stay competitive (not to mention to serve as injury insurance) and those tend to cost quite a bit.

I don't think it would make much difference from a cap standpoint, and I'm sure Yao brings in a lot more then whatever lux tax damage the higher salary would incur.

I swear the first time i saw Yao go down, I shed a tear, the second - I almost had a heart attack. When T-mac went down and got carried out on a stretcher i thought i was dreaming. If Yao goes down again, i dont think i will be able to watch the Rockets anymore. It is the worst feeling in the world to always be the team "that could have been the best" We have been injured for 4 years now. I cant take it anymore.

Of course Yao would love to do what is best for his career. However, if a coach asks Yao if he is good to play longer Yao will always say yes even if it isn't in his best interest. He is all about the team. I still remember he thought the trade of Rafer was his fault because he didn't play hard enough. I hope the coaches won't pressure him to play past 30 minutes. I fully expect them to though.

it cracks me up how Portland had no choice but to Front and use backside help to deny the ball the rest of the series. We scored 62 pts by the half in that series.

I hope heals up and comes back with no injuries the rest of his career.
