I know, my words exactly. I'm wondering why lambieer isn't getting any interviews. I mean the guy coached women. Can you imagine the emotional strain of 12 women in a lockerroom?
So. What will Doc Rivers put out as the reason for his retirement from coaching after this year's finals?
Just my opinion of em... from what I've seen. Sure hope he proves me wrong though, I want him to succeed.
It will be interesting to see what happens to the Celtics after he leaves. I wonder if Doc Rivers will be exposed as a fraud.
Many thanks to the OP for not only this thread, but for sharing his info/insight with us here in general
Thibodeau was the one who help turn Yao into the 20+ ppg player he is known for. I'd say he still has some offense in him.
I'm happy for Thibodeau, though I'm not sure how he could be someone's favorite Rockets coach when all he ever was, was an assistant. (and never made it past the first round at that). I wasn't too happy to see what he did to New Orleans. He's never had an offer to be a head coach before, and now suddenly he's dragging teams along that finally gave him the first opportunity. I understand that Chicago is the better job, but I would just expect a first time head coach to be a little bit more grateful about an offer.
I was going to answer just the bolded question. But then you mentioned part of my response already in your comment. My theory, seems its simply favoring player culture instead of coach culture and doesnt have to go beyond that. Going with the belief that an ex-player will know all the nuances of how players behave and operate, and they can blend into the environment. And treating career coaches more like temporary contract overseers of a construction project. And in extreme, not wanting something like a Sprewell/ Carlessimo incident. Simply so players tune in instead of tuning out. Even though a regular coach might have good schemes and designs.
congrats Tib waaay overdue.. this guy can coach the hell out of some D lol beast mode status.. hopefully he can coach Offense better than JVG and if so he'll be a top 5 coach easily in the NBA
Thibs is an amazing basketball guy. He needed a team that would buy into him (especially the team leaders). In terms of knowledge he knows more than most coaches in the NBA and will out work all of them. This guy basically slept at Toyota Center. The key is having a team that buys into what he is saying. With Noah being a perfect fit with that. Rose will probably also follow his lead. Great situation for the Bulls and Thibs!
If the Bulls fail . .. will Thibodeau be exposed as a fraud or will it be the player's fault? [in a jvg-esque fashion] Rocket River
To be fair, just about every coach needs "his" kind of players to perform well. Each coach has their own defensive/offensive philosophy and has an idea of the ideal players that fit into this system.
