Lee Flowers of the Steelers: "I don't think it is going to work in this league. They never moved past the 50-yard line unless we allowed them. I have seen better offenses in my eight-year career, and everyone saw the first half. That is what we are going off of."

Spurrier: "I did happen to see what he said. I guess what he was implying was that Pittsburgh has such lousy defensive coaches and such lousy backup defensive players that they couldn't stop our lousy offense. I guess only time will tell if he's right."

    :D

He's not exactly going to endear himself to the NFL fraternity of coaches with comments like that. I'd hate to be the qb when they play the Steelers again. Whistle? What whistle?

I will be very surprised if Spurrier comes anywhere near his college coaching success as coach of the Deadskins.

Spurrier is exactly what the NFL needed, some new blood in the coaching ranks. The NFL is pretty bad when it comes to coach recycling...

November 24th: St. Louis Rams @ Washington Redskins. This is going to be a HELLUVA game to watch...

    first SF, now Pittsburgh?

man, by the time this season starts, he's gonna have beef with everyone on his schedule!

its fun for us nfl fans to watch, but he's gonna have some trouble within nfl circles itself if he keeps talking this smack!

I hated him in college because often times he beat up on teams when the playing field wasn't level, but in the NFL I love his approach to the game.

I love it. He's just what the NFL needed. Kinda like what Cuban is for the NBA and Steinbrenner for the MLB. You got players out there who think they are the best, what's wrong with a coach who has the same mentality?

Course, Flowers was actually right, if you consider the fact that the Redskins scored most (if not all) of their points against Pittsburgh's scrubs later in the game. The first string shut em out.

I like Spurrier a lot. I would have a different opinion of him if I were a Tennesee or Georgia fan, or if I were a Cowboys fan.

Exactly its nice to hear a coach talk a little smack, 95% of them (coaches) sound like politicians trying their best not to offend anyone. Spurrier is creating instant rivalries with each game- this is going to get the Skins alot of press.
