Yet another data point to justify my economic boycott of si. These people sat in their NYC offices and decided to put a freaking soccer player on the cover the week the Rockets won their first championship. The Rockets had a relatively small story in the middle of the mag. Worse, they had the Knick commemorative editions all set to go and hadn't bothered to put together one for the Rockets. It was so bad Dream visited the si offices that summer to express his displeasure.

I absolutely hate si. I spent my whole childhood wanting to see a cover with the Oilers, Astros, or Rockets winning a championship. When it does happen, I get a soccer player in the mail. I canceled then and don't even pick it up in the Dentist office.

    si sucks.

Yes, absolute BS by them. Too bad they don't even have their facts straight about Jordan's absence from the league all these years later.

I rememebr that. Didn't know SI was based in NY though. It makes more sense now. Didn't like half of Houston cancel their subscriptions?

This could have been posted by me. Nothing new to see here, they are jackasses, and play favorites, and got butt-hurt when their usual M.O. was interfered with by a team they didn't care to see win. I still refuse to indulge in any of their content. I sent them mail telling them as much back then, and left phone messages as well.

Their Local version of our championship magazine was the last dime they'll ever get from me, ever, and I contemplated not getting that too. Hell, I boycotted Exxon way back when and have occasionally used their gas in the past few years, but I still won't pick up an issue of S.I. ... period.

Once in a while some of their content leaks into my area of sight and I have to turn away as it makes me a bit angry to this day. Yeah, I know, let it go... but !@#$ them.

    Not this crap again...

Jordan was playing when the Rox won the second championship and lets not forget that the Dream led Rockets were one of the few teams that had a winning record against the Jordan led Bulls. His Airness himself said the Rockets were a tough tough matchup for the Bulls.

I think it is hilarious and awesome that people have such strong feelings about that snub over 15 years later. We accepted (begrudgingly) hiring Oakley and Ewing, but still won't look at a copy of SI.

If the Rockets didn't have to play the Sonics, whom Houston matched up poorly with, Michael Jordan would probably have 2 fewer titles.

Its fun to play the "what if" game!

So what's new? This is real disrespect the kind that last years and years, not the "disrespect" labeled by newer fans because Charles Barkley doesn't predict us to win a series.

As long as people who identify themselves as "Rockets" fans understand the history of the NBA and the history of the Rockets in that point in time, they will know that those championships were amazing. And that the 90s Rockets/Bulls rivalry, you know the one where Bill Cartright deliberately threw an elbow cause Hakeem was flat out destroying him and the entire Bulls front line that cause Dream to miss half a season and wear some stupid goggles..

Save the "Rockets" fans from the lies and disrespect, the rest of the world, we don't care about.

This is Clutch City and Clutchfans is named after that, if you disrespect Clutch City, then you are on the wrong board.
