this is great news.......to me. "Closing out this week’s news, is perhaps one of the bigger announcements in quite sometime. Though it has been laboriously discussed and greatly anticipated, A Tribe Called Quest has reunited and is seven cuts deep into their reunion project. SAY WORD!!!! Now we true school heads have Pete & C.L. and Quest back in the fold. Now how about that Organized Konfusion reunion. And let’s get those Third Bass and Black Sheep things rolling, huh?" OH, PLEASE OH, PLEASE OH, PLEASE OH, PLEASE OH, PLEASE OH, PLEASE OH, PLEASE OH, PLEASE OH, PLEASE OH, PLEASE OH, PLEASE ! Please let that happen. More than any other group, they're the ones I'd like to get back together. Lucy Pearl and "Amplifed" just weren't enough. Saw Common two weeks back, great show...
i LOVED this music in college...still do, but don't find myself listening to it much anymore Tribe Called Quest remains my favorite rap group...I never got to see them perform live, though. Pete Rock & CL Smooth's Reminisce CD was great! Sonny - Tennesee was by Arrested Development...great song, by the way!
The first album by the Black Sheep is still one of the best records I've ever heard, and I really don't care for rap anymore.
Thank goodness!! Back in the day, I was a Hip-Hop & Rap fanatic. But nowadays, Rap is so bad it's depressing. Please save Hip-Hop, ATCQ!!
I like tribe and suspect it will be vintage tribe only problem was that Albums 2-4 sound nearly EXACTLY like 1. They were great though. But Pound for Pound? nope. That would be OUTKAST!!! Goodie Mob Rocket River "southernplayalisticcadilacmusick"
red, and Mad Max, I thought that Sonny might have confused the two, but I gave him benefit of the doubt. I assumed he knew it wasn't a ATCQ song, and was just pointing out a jam he still listens to. I wasn't tryin to jump on his case if he still bumps music from back in the day. Sorry for the mixup....
Arrested Development actually reformed in 2000 (minus the old guy). They were in the middle of a project when they split up again. Speech is back in the studio working on a follow up to his 2 very succesful albums (succesful in Japan, where he's an icon). They should form a show where De La Soul, ATCQ, Gangstarr, Diamond D (now just known as Diamond), Blackmoon, Pharcyde (they got back together in May I heard), etc. all perform. The early '90s produced some great hip hop. I remember Houston having 3 hip hop stations in "97-9 The Boxx", "Kiss 98.5" and "102 Jamz". Those were the days.
Anyone see the Smokin' Grooves tour this year? It was like a Native Tongues flashback. I saw it here in Chicago, and we actually had each and every member of the Roots present. Very nice. Rahzel rocking the Brian Urlacher jersey...
