Just think In a few years . . I will be able to play a video game where my player will be able to go and play a video game Rocket River
They're about to do a segment on this on CNBC in the next few minutes. I doubt it'll be anything in-depth or "gamer-oriented".

Has anyone signed up for this? Its starting up in 2 weeks, same day as the E3 convention. I saw a recent offer on Engadget for a full year free. But registration is closed now.
How do you save your game? I guess onto your PC??? It's too late tonight, but I'm definitely gonna have to check this out.
I remembered the other day about this technology, but couldn't remember the name. Glad you bumped this. I had wondered what was going on with it. Going to give it a try, but I really like my consoles and PC.
From what I understand it would just mainly be depended on how powerful their systems are. They host the game, you just need a decent enough computer to stream high quality video, you input the commands and they stream back the actions in the video, repeat. I'm assuming everything is server based on their side, your account info, saved games, etc. You probably just log-on to their system select the game, and they stream it to you. Thats how I'm understanding it, I could be wrong. Think of it has a flash type game.
Regarding Onlive: Was there a Beta recently in Houston? Yes. Was it held under tight NDA secrecy? Yes. Was I in the Beta? Yes. Can I post any further information on a public BBS? No. I don't know HOW anyone could possibly learn anything more from me.
Unless someone figured out some other way to seek this information from me, but I don't know how anyone could ever do that, in this electronic age.
They want it to be a threat, but I am dubious about the lag times etc.....they will need tons of servers all over the country.... I have seen a demo and it is really cool, but I am not convinced yet. DD
Problem here is this They want you to pay a monthly subscription fee, then buy a game on top of that. That fee per month plus the cost of a rental or a buy is going to be a problem because If you dont pay the monthly fee, you dont get to play the game you bought. Thats really dumb
I dont think this will kill the consoles yet. Although I am surprised that they are trying to launch already. Most people don't have fast enough internet connections to stream new 360 and PS3 games as fast as if they had a console. But I think once fiber optic is mainstream, this will be the next evolution in the gaming industry. Even the CEO of Square Enix said that console games will be extinct within 10 years. http://kotaku.com/5413588/square-enix-anticipating-the-death-of-consoles
