Actually, I think Yao, along with Battier and hayes, are the 3 main vocal leaders on the court. I have seen numerous reports about Yao himself talking about losing his voice after the game because he yells and directs his teammates too much. It just didn't get picked up by the main media, presumably because it conflicts with his normal "gentle/nice" tag...
he didn't. I saw a post a while back with a link to someone's rep and remark, and it said " we indians need to stick together" I say it now for #2's and giggles.
If Rick Adelman was screaming the same thing in my ear everyday it wouldn't be long before I knew what he knows,
I dont think he could be a head coach, doing offensive/defensive diagrams and stuff, but he would be great giving private lessons, like hakeem is doing with other players. Disclaimer: Im not comparing Yao talent to hakeem talent ok?
Not necessary. He fired his mentor and long time coach when he took over his old CBA team Shanghai Shark. Yao seems to be a very intelligent person. Will do whatever the best at whatever position he is in.
This was kinda along the same lines as what I was thinking. Yao's skillset is unique to him because of his size, the same way Brooks has all the cool release points on his shots inside the paint to keep from getting blocked (which if he was 6'4, he may not have ever developed)... ...and why would you want Jordan Hill to play like Yao? You want Jordan Hill to play like Jordan Hill, just much better and more consistent.
He'd be terrible as an American coach. I just don't seem him handling player attitudes very well. Nor do I see him as the kinda guy that can get players fired up. Even in coaching a big man, communication would be a big issue. And really, his 'Big Man skills' aren't that great. Shooting, sure, but he's not that great at getting position in the paint. He has a spin move, true, but he really isn't known for post moves. Then again, who is these days.
He would be the best coach ever. Think about it, players will be scared ****less of ****. As if you wouldn't do what a 7'6 guy tells you to do.
Bill Russell was a player/coach for the Celts, winning a championship in 68. 'course the coaching evaluation may depend on your "celticness" ...
