I want to say Dream, but that might be a homer thing. Pretty close to a toss up.

Define "athlete". If you're including coordination, then its Olajuwon by far.

I don't really know how to judge who is the best "athlete". Who can run the fastest? Who can jump the highest? I do know Hakeem was a better player, and that's all that really matters.

Right now I say Dwight. But in his prime, Dream could channel maradona with a soccer ball.

Maybe Dwight has a slight edge on power dunks.... everything else Dream will take Dwight's candy with 1 finger.

Dream had the footwork that even point guards envy.

The only aspect of basketball Dwight can match up to Hakeem is probably strength.

And even then, you don't necessary need to be the strongest C to be the best C.

You're right. Hakeem's coordination >>> Dwight's. The one thing I think Dwight has the clear edge (IMO) is strength. And maybe leaping.

Dwight has much higher pure athleticism as proven by his mad hops. Dream had amazing agility, body coordination, and hand eye coordination (developed from his goalie days) as well as the ability to make a second jump faster than anyone.

Hakeem had a better body for back-to-the-basket play, and he was much quicker. Probably more agile, though maybe not the same vertical.

Maybe Dwight can bench press more and dunk on a higher basket.

And Hakeem would also drop 50 on Glen Davis.

I hope no one thinks I'm comparing them as players.

You obviously didn't watch Hakeem play in the 80's. Ran the floor like a gazelle, was more agile and got off the ground quicker than any big man in the league, and often had effortless put back dunks where his shoulders were at the rim while carrying the offensive load as well. Dwight is playing in an era of guards, won a Slam Dunk contest, and is built like a Greek God so his athleticism gets a lot of hype, but when it comes to making athletic plays on the court there's really no comparison.

dwight is probably physically stronger than Dream ever was. but that's his only advantage.

Dwight is bigger, faster, and jumps higher. Hakeem is better coordinated and better hand eye coordination is better.
