cleveland with lebron. lebron has already said they have the edge. anyhow, that's not what this thread is about. you didn't address my main point about how we still aren't even close to the top teams with this trade. this trade is a lateral move at best.
usually these big trades have multiple teams getting hosed bigtime. Good job avoiding that somehow.. ALMOST.. GSW.. OUT Monta Ellis Corey Maggette Andres Biedrins Anthony Randolph #6 pick IN Hedo Turkoglu Kevin Martin Andrea Bargnani Hasheem Thabeet # 14 pick They're getting crappier and older...and also losing out from a possibly fringe elite draft pick to a mediocre pick. They would be the first ones to run from this
oops, i originally was gonna trade arthur, but memphis would wanna keep him. him going or not doesn't matter kinda as salaries would still match up.
yah, i was trying to avoid that but...... i see this as a reasoning. kmart is an efficient scorer who they would still covet and is still young....at least will go through his prime in his contract. they have to eat maggette or turkoglu's contract already so they can get someone who is the better offensive player. bargnani fits into their system and gets rid of randolph who rumor has it, they don't want to deal with anymore. and they get to move curry to pg who they want to be the future in their team. to make ppl happy, we can always move draft picks around. like us getting #6, etc. big thing for us is that we get size. with yao coming back, ab isn't gonna get the touches he did this year and on defense, is a liability. no matter what anyone says, i know that if we could trade ab for mayo straight up, everyone would.....in a heart beat.
maybe you should state how we become contenders with this trade in this thread rather than stating a new one. how does this trade bring us up to the talent level of the top teams in the league? what all-stars/future all-stars/all nba players are we acquiring?
marc gasol can play backup 4/5. randolph has so much upside and can develop with yao, scola, hakeem (as he mentored other big men here) mayo is arguably better and with much more upside than kmart or brooks, and even then, how many times did our fans wants lowry in our starting 5 over brooks. as we all know, with yao coming back, brooks isn't gonna get as many touches and we need a truer form of a pg anyways. not to mention, we won't get pushed around on defense
i'm trying to piece deals that don't involve superstars but fulfills needs. as all these players are under contract.....everyone involved just needs the teams to wanna do it and not involve the players wanting to or not.
Totally agree with you, not only are the grizzlies rumored to be wanting to improve at the PG position in this year's draft (granted that Mike Conley sucks the big one) but we'd be stuck with a bunch of young guns still wanting to prove their self worth and ignore the concept of team ball (DeRozan and Mayo). Blow this idea cuz it's straight up garbage...props for thinking this out and props for actually typing it up as i was up till 4am last night and didnt choose to think it all up but damnnn!
Okay BROOKS - 3pt shooting Rafer with a mid range game. Martin - Tracy Mcgrady scoring without the D Ariza - Battier D with scoring Scola - Works as hard as Chuck, can also score Yao - 1 year older, still in his prime, hungrier, wants a new max contract I think you guys are underestimating this team. Remember Rafer, Tracy, Battier, Hayes, and Yao won 55 games in a tougher NBA? We had worse teams that won 50+ for 4/6 seasons. Our team is more improved. If Morey sees a trade he likes, do it. But the Rockets have until the ASB, so let's see how this line up looks out there.
AARON BROOKS > CONLEY. Martin > Mayo. Ariza's lane passing lane presence alone over Demar DeRozan. M Gasol over hill maybe. Not IMO Bored or not..This is a terrible idea, much less a trade! I can't bring myself to comprehend why or how anyone would think up this trade, mention it, or even create a thread over? Boredom truly gets the best of people.
what needs exactly were you filling? other than a back up center, why do we need the other guys? you bascially took away our biggest weapon in the backcourt, scoring through solid shooting, and replaced it with less inefficient scoring. Not only does our backcourt get worse, but their connection to our post players also gets worse.
as this is a fantasy trade and would never happen - i know all further talk is moot but.... i would personally start lowry over conley. as he would be that PG we need. we lose AB, true, but again, WE HAVE YAO BACK NEXT YEAR! do you think AB is gonna get those kinda touches again? or have that same type of penetration with yao in the middle? not to mention, we wouldn't really have a liability on the defensive end anymore furthermore, how is marc gasol over the hill? he is 25.... and making a case for kevin martin over mayo? i think the majority of ppl that are non-rocket fans would say that we would be getting the end of the bargain if we could swap martin for mayo. mayo gets more rebounds and assists and isn't as big of defensive liability. also, younger, not yet injury prone as martin is, and can create offense. we can shane as a starter again and we have him to mentor derozan, who again, has much more upside and talent than ariza does. AND we get anthony randolph.....refer to other thread of how randolph is.....we all wanted him in that thread and i we shouldn't miss that point here.
