bcuz hes strictly an offensive player albeit a great one Ill have to say my guy Kevin Martin.. luv em tho
Jared Jeffries is overpaid for sure. Good thing his contract is expiring. Also Aaron Brooks is underpaid, but I know why.
Jared Jeffries is overpaid, but he made that contract with the Knicks, and it is expiring, so is not really a mistake by the rockets.
Jeffries is not overpaid - his contract was what it took for us to get a Knicks 2011 draft swap (#1 protected) and 2012 top 5 protected pick, and it is a valuable expiring this year! If you're willing to take on Elton Brand for the #2 pick this year ... Jeffries may just turn out to be a huge bargain! Battier may be a little, but also an expiring who would probably resign with the Rockets next year at half the salary. Yao would not be overpaid if healthy. Kevin Martin is fair value, as is Ariza. Andersen ok given it is an expiring also (team option for 2011-12). The overpaid candidates may well be Luis and Lowry for next year, depending on what other teams offer in free agency and whether we match.
Yao Ming just because we paying him the most and he hurts the team a lot but getting injured when we needed him most. We paying him a lot of money just to sit on the sideline and cheer. He is the most expensive cheerleader for the Rockets.
If Bosh winds up on out team, he'll be overpaid. Good, but overpaid. Jamal Mashburn and Clyde Robinson were as good or better IMHO, and they made WAY less.
Win. About the issue someone brought up about us being over the cap yet not being a contender, this says a number of things, none of which are overpaying. Being a legit contender takes a special chemistry of players. It's entirely about that, basketball is a team game. Let's say that Yao makes a miraculous comeback, has his best year ever, yet we don't make the conference finals. That still does not mean we are overpaying, nor does it make it Yao's fault. Not even LeBron could carry the Cavaliers to a championship, so you can't point a finger at Yao. All it means is that this specific collection of players do not create that special team chemistry.
Considering that there are only two players - Martin and Ariza - that currently have guaranteed contracts beyond the end of next seaon, I'd say that the Rockets are in very good shape salary wise.
Uhh... no. Spurs, by far, have the best organization in the NBA. Drafting, scouting... they do it right. Effing Spurs.
The way I see it, the question could be: If this guy was a free agent, would he get a better salary than his current salary? In that case, Andersen, Battier, Jeffries and Martin are overpaid. I am almost tempted to put Yao on that list... But you have to overpay players to win championships.
