I think NJ will be a good spot. They have Lopez, Harris, and a high draft pick. And their new owner is gonna spend $$$$$$$$$.

37 months? Why not just 3 years? ...

Jeff would be an awesome assistant coach....

It looks like the Net's other target is JVG's former assistant Thibodeau.
I like the idea of Thibs coaching the Nets. I think the Nets can rebuild quickly like the Traiblazers. They have just as much capspace as NY, but they much better talent(Devin Harris vs Toney Douglas, Brook Lopez vs Eddy Curry), and a very high draft pick in a good draft.

It's funny that all of these teams just assumed JVG would leap at the chance to be their coach. Why should Jeff commit to anything before finding out where the big two are heading?

NJ was out of the JVG sweepstakes the moment they got the 3rd pick in the draft. JVG hates losing. There's no way he even considers a job where he's unlikely to win at least 50 games.

Jeff wants to see if LeBron goes to New Jersey before he decides to coach there or not.

So his own team doesn't want him as head coach? Interesting.

The Nets have said before that they want an established NBA coach. So i don't think tibadeau will be hired there. I think he is able just don't think a first shot head coach is what they are after

Its not that, I think JVG doesn't have the patience to play with an all rookie squad. Unless they get LBJ, the Nets will still be in rebuilding mode next season even with the 3rd pick in the draft. The Nets situation is actually a great place for a coach LBJ or no LBJ. Harris, Lee and Lopez are all solid players, and with the 3rd pick they can get a star. Add an owner will to spend the $$$ and that's a pretty good job if you don't mind coaching rookies/young players.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Plus, I think he's said he genuinely enjoys broadcasting and is happy with where he is. I don't see him being tempted to coach again until a potential championship-contending gig pops up.
