What player would need to be available for DM to trade up?

We have heard that DM was trying to move up in the draft to 3 or 4. http://twitter.com/WojYahooNBA

If DM could not get to 3 or 4 but could instead get as high as 6 or 7 what players would have to be there for DM to make the move? I believe that if Favors, Monroe or Cousins fall to any spot in the draft that DM has the option to trade up for he will do it. Outside of those three players I think he is more likely to stay where he is or trade down.

You would think Cousins or Favors and maybe Turner.

I'm sure Morey doesn't trust what he sees in Cousins. I'd put my money on Monroe or Favors.

Depends on who else is involved in the trade to move up...who we maybe getting back (Randolph?) and who we're giving up (CBud? Hill?). If you're trading CBud to get Randolph, I'd think that would mean you're not looking to draft yet another big.

The more I think of it the more Monroe sounds like a company man for this team. He's got size, speed, intelligence, and most importantly great hands and court vision to fit into a Rick Adelman-designed system.

In fact, what was even the knock in this guy in college that is making him fall behind Cousins and Favors on the big man totem pole? I can't think of anything. His Georgetown teams were inconsistent--blowing out the reigning natl champs with the president in the building and then losing in the first round to the 14 seed--but can you really pin that on him? I blame Thompson III's pure Princeton style that takes the game out of the hands of its most dominant players and into the hands of its streaky three point shooters.

If Monroe can get to Golden State at 6 then I think Morey seriously has to consider pulling out the stops to make a move up.

Monroe is one guy that I think is seriously on the Rockets radar. I'm not as big a Greg Monroe fan as some but he seems to be a Rick Adelman type of Center or Power Forward.

I trust DM, but would not give up any rotational player to move up outside of D. Andersen, C. Hayes, or J. Taylor.

The rest I would rather keep.

I don't know, to say you are sure of anything Daryl Morey thinks is pretty strong words. I think if Cousins is available to Morey he will trade up to get him. But I never get the Morey draft right.

Since DM has been here he has drafted exactly one player that I thought he should draft....Chase Budinger. Of course its a good thing the DM and I don't see eye to eye since I also wanted him to draft players like Glen Davis and Morris Almond. I chastised him for drafting Landry and Brooks and they both turned out to be early 1st round talent.

If you're getting a PF/C, then Hill becomes expendable. You're upgrading, with some risk. Then again, Hill is still a risk as well. Then again again, keeping Hill and taking a PF/C at #14 may be the best gamble of all.

Kinda surprised that the topic of trading down hasn't come up....

Those were all players that didn't come with the "immaturity" tag. Cousins would be a shocking pick considering he would be the biggest risk Morey has ever taken and would most assuredly end up having to give up a lot get him.

I think if Morey can't move up and get Cousins, it wouldn't surprise me to see him move back from #14 and make a value pick, plus add more assets to his cache. You gotta also think that GMs like Pritchard and Cuban are going to do everything in their power to create some sort of bidding war for Cousins.

I think the risk is coupled with the potential reward. You just typically do not have the possibility for the same type of reward for players drafted at the lower end of the 1st or in the 2nd rounds so you obviously do not take the same type of risks on those players. Cousins could turn out to be the best center to come along since Shaq or he could be a bust. Thats how it is with players so young and with so much talent.

Monroe or Cousins or Favors. Doubt he's interested in Johnson and Aminu.

I just haven't seen Morey take many risks. He's spent money on draft picks and players (DA) but hasn't traded away talent for something so unproven.

Do y'all think Greg Monroe can play C in the NBA???

I think he can, just like Hill can, but PF being the true position for him

If DM thinks he can play C, I don´t have a doubt he is after him at 6th, but if he doesn´t think that, I have doubts that he want´s do draft another PF, we have to many

Cousins and Johnson will not be there at 6th, so don´t "worry" about them

J.hill is a solid big man. Unless we get A. Randolf rox wont be letting him go. Rox are not going another season with a Chuck Hayes at Center even with Yao. Chase bud, J.Taylor, Battier are the ones to watch on the trading block.

    - Watch for another all new Rockets team this year.
    - We don't go another season not making it in the playoffs. So get ready for letting some of our loved ones go. Carl Landry is an example.
    - As fans we want to see our team get some &@#$!ng recognition, respect, credit and ultimately go deep into the playoffs. Players come and go.
    - Tmac era is dead and gone- besides Yao- we will see everybody from that era go. Battier / Chucky will be gone within the next 2 years for sure. We build around Kmart, Brooks, Scola - DM will add the rest this season with pieces he picked up especially for this purpose- making trades.

I think there is a very good chance that he plays center in the NBA. He certainly has the body for it.
