    LOL@GIO's dad's bluff. :p

EDIT: It's Zizinho (their dad) speculating this, Gio hasn't said a word. If he has, we haven't heard it.

From since you were all kids, soccer dudes... everyone including your moms and dads wish they can go to the cup... can you "love your brother" so much that to show your love for him, you walk away from not just the WORLD SHOWCASE, but the opening game... *he is going to start* the WORLD CUP!?!?!?!

Mexico's coaching staff should just not take his comments seriously but at the same time don't ignore him, either.

    Baffling.

WE played good against Ghana, ofcourse they are a bad team. But i was impressed at how easily our offensive players can create a dangerous situation from nothing. With the offensive firepower we have it is going to be a good tournament.

Ofcourse our defense is not ideal. but I think we will manage

Could be playing in possibly his 2nd cup at 23 instead of waiting until he's 27 to play in his first (he was invited to camp with the US in 2006 but turned it down to stay eligible for Italy).

I understand the lure of playing for Italy in the WC, but what does it matter if you don't get to play at all?

That's what I'm curious. The "swagger" that comes with playing for Italy etc. The fans over there, the life. But, if they don't select him....or he doesn't get playing time.....

Is that really greater than being a STAR on the US team? In his eyes....I guess so.

I know I'd rather play, and be a star than sit waiting.....and waiting.....

That's an IF. I mean, the promise of being a star player for a country where the sport is gradually gaining strong following. 2002 and 2006 WC made HUGE strides for the US in terms of fans....

He can be a star playing in Europe, but what IF he never gets the chance in the WC scene?

well, regardless. We all know how he feels by his decision.

Italy is a power house....so I wouldn't but it beside them to win it when he's 27....

BAH! Whatever....I just can't wait till the WC!!!!!! I hate summer....bring on the WC...then fall / winter!

I thought you guys played by far the best football at the last WC, at least until you were knocked out.

EDIT: Never mind. I just spoke to V Span on the phone.
Yeah, I agree. With the US's roster now and last cup, he would have made it.

I'm still surprised Alexandre Pato was left off the Brazil National team.

OSCAR PEREZ will be wearing #1 for Mexico? What a joke!
Usually #1 is for the starter goalkeeper.

Loose translation: It is not a done deal that Pérez will be the starter, but it's a bit strange that Perez would wear such jersey number, which makes it seem like he would be used as a starter goalkeeper.

FYI: Howard wore #1 in 2006, but Keller started all games.

    Anyone playing FIFA.COM's "Predictor"?

Top prize is a training session with Ronaldo.

81% of the predictors are choosing USA to beat ENG.

I think you got that backwards. 82% are predicting England to win.

I'm in. Thanks for setting it up...
