Feel free to add on, I'll edit as needed.

    My Take:
I'm tired of the personal and ignorant nature that certain players, fans and media have chosen to disrespect Yao Ming. I can not even begin to count the number of times I've read some journalist writing out of his ass: "OK, well we know for sure he can't block shots" or "How is Yao gonna help? He has no post game." Now that players are piling on and talking stuff, I don't feel satisfied letting any of them fade into the woodwork without some accountability...

So, this thread's purpose is two-fold: to vent and to actually take names... complete with links and quotes. That's where you come in. I'll keep a list here and update it as people chime in with links to offending articles and quotes that just make you go... "WTF?!?"

You know, when you're walking onto someone else's court it's best to shut up and play. If you've got game, you'll earn respect... and I certainly hope that will happen with Ming. But I also know with the extreme ****-talkers, even when you take court the excuses flow through them like the beans at Taco Bell: the score was all wrong, it wasn't really point, "that's bull****," we weren't playing with 2's, "all luck," blah, blah, blah. In this case, that's not good enough.

How about starting with 2 lists: the Haters and the Ignorami. Although there is crossover, in general I think of haters as no-class ballers unleashing pre-emptive personal attacks in the name of playground and country. USA! USA!
Ignorami also talk out of the wrong hole, but support their bias by misrepresenting opinion as fact. Ignorami have been spotted as far north as Milwaukee, somehow even getting published there. Too much beer and cheese. No seriously, I've done calculations, it must be true.

A 21 year old kid fresh-off-the-boat with a billion people riding him already is too easy a target. For the record, the respect, honesty and class Ming has shown at every turn - "that's their business" is priceless - a testimony to his character. But as Rocket fans, at some point **** needs to be said back... or at least categorized and recorded for later. :p

Funny thing is that the Bucks would cream their jeans if they could have a chance to have Yao Ming.

But then again, Pryzbilla is a good shot blocker, so nevermind.

Ben Wallace? Ya, you've guarded plenty of top notch PF/C in the East.

It's funny how a Johnny-come-lately like Wallace thinks that he can talk $hit now that he's become the most overrated player in the NBA.

    LOL, great thread idea.

I always felt Jay Williams has been jealous of Ming since the draft, even though the Rockets didn't need him and he wanted to be in Chicago. I dunno, maybe he wanted more love than he got. Anyway, when he said how he wanted to dunk on Ming the other day that pissed me off. It's not like Ming even wanted all that hype.

How's Ben Wallace overrated? He won Best Defensive player, and he is the best defensive player.

It's not like he won MVP.

Everyone is on the Ben Wallace bandwagon now. Before this season, he was very underrated. Now, he's getting way too much hype for being a defensive-only player.

He's a nice role player, but he shouldn't be getting so much pub now.

Why would anyone hate Yao? He's as humble as can be. I can't hate anyone that is humble. Must be a cultural street or street thing.

What a difference a year makes. In the preseason last year, when KT was starting after the injury to Mo, I can distinctly remember him having a good offensive game against the Pistons.

There were several threads on this BBS, saying "Ben Wallace? He's a scrub, let wait and see what Kenny does against the real players..." and the such like. Gotta love that turnaround

    Yesman,

Let me know if the Jay Williams entry had enough juice. I thought it was funny how he asked Baron Davis to do his dirty work for him.

Also, I used the ccnet thread link to the article. The other link got deleted.

Check out this quote from the 2nd Jay Williams link.
    http://espn.go.com/oly/news/2002/0819/1420266.html

''I say this right now,'' he said of possibly withdrawing, ''but then I'm one of the most competitive guys I've ever met. So I don't know.''

When in doubt, self-love: that's powerful stuff.

Ben Wallace is an over-rated ASSXXXX. Just like Rodman, playing dirty doesnt make you an good athlete. Players like that dont earn respect from me. Unfortunately, TV rating is THE only game in NBA. It s all business. That's why they allow it.

From what I have read in most other places. Most supporters say he'll be a good or great player. Only few say he'll dominate. On the other hand, there r plenty of MING bashing. Comparing him to Bradly, some even insulting or racist. "MING=BUST" is commonly posted everywhere. When was the last time a #1 pick has received so much bashing. Relatively speaking, MING has been treated more harsher than other #1 picks in recent history. It is jealousy, ignorance, racist, or all of the above.

    Agreed.

I seem to recall that Kwame Brown was the next best thing to sliced bread and all the hype about, "MJ got his man.. " and all that crap. What did Kwame do last year....NOTHING! Does the media hounds say anything about that???

Yet they bash Ming at every turn....

It will be sweet when they have to eat their words.

Ming will be a welcome addition to this team and one of the cornerstones of the franchise for years to come.

No one responded to my suggestion on another thread where I recommended that if "molested" he should punch their lights out and get thrown out. China doesn't have a change anyway, so why not make a statement. I also think the use of maritial arts would be a nice touch! :)

Exactly. Imagine a 7-foot-4 AOL Bruce Lee Ninja M0nstar Clone. Oh the potential!

If he could give Finley and Lafrenz the Fist Of The Dragon and take em out for the season he would bring us much closer to winning the midwest. And then he should kick Ben Wallace in the ass with some patented Drunk Monkey move. OMG!!! LOL BIG!
Release the Dragon! Use the Fist! Punch Paul Pierce! OMG! He makes our collective pen1s grow! OMG!
