Ok, my computer was working fine for 2 months since I installed Windows 7. The other day I went to Fry's and bought 2GB DDR2 rams (Corsair) to add to my 2GB of rams to make it 4GB (same company and design). After installation and for a couple of days everything was working fine. But, starting yesterday the computer would automatically turn on at no specific time. I would turn it on and use it for awhile then shut it down. Then, a couple of hours later when I go back upstair ... the computer is back on. I have opened the case and recheck the memories to make sure they are secured and tied the wirings tightly ... but same result. Anyone have any suggestion? thanks.
Somebody in your house is turning it on and forgetting to turn it back off. A computer that's off can't turn itself on.
You can turn on a computer using WOL (wake up on lan). Someone might have hacked your computer. I used to use this all the time to remotely turn on my computer when I wasn't at home. Check in your bios for this option.
I'm the only one home today.... and only person that use this computer. I tried googling it and saw some similiar issues but didnt help
This is incorrect. My DELL XPS400 has a timer that allows me to let it turn itself on daily at the same time. Check the BIOS like Cowboy_Bebop suggested. You also may be selecting "restart" instead of "shut down." Maybe.
Power management setting in BIOS that allows the PC to turn on at a certain time or possible faulty power button on the system that is causing the system to turn on.
wait i had this problem..it's the wake on lan function... let me try to think where i turned it off... hmmmmmmm try that and let me know.
