err i mean kobe or lebron? WHY DO WE HAVE TO BE SO CURSED!!!!! an aging yao, and a unhealthy martin, whew.. what happens to yao in the upcoming years would be dreadful
While I generally agree, I think that decision to move on from Yao is for the end of this next season. And not because it can't be made now (the decision) but because Yao's contract forces the team to give it one more shot with him. DD
I don't think he will be here next year....but... ...the MOST I would offer is... Jeffries, Ariza (or Andersen/Taylor), Hill, rights to Llull, picks, maybe 3 mil $ to buy out Jeffries... Absolutely no Scola, Brooks or Budinger.
im not sure his contract has anything to do with it. i expect the rockets to re-sign yao weather they want to continue to build around him or not. although i agree that the decision will most likely be made next summer. the conspiracy theorist in me wants to say that secretly the team has moved on from building around yao. last summers amare rumors and now an interest in bosh really seems like they want to find a new face of the franchise.
I don't see how any of these things are mutually exclusive to signing Yao. Financially speaking, Yao is worth at least his contract, whatever it may be that he signs next year. The Rockets are over the cap in the foreseeable future if they give Bosh/Amare big money. So there's not cap ramifications to worry about. As much as I know many want us to ditch Yao like a bad habit, he's not as big a burden as one would think. It's not like if Yao leaves, we'll get Melo next year or something. There's just not enough maneuverability where him leaving make us better. As for Bosh, if he wants to come here, then Hill and 2-3 1st rounders(including perhaps this year's) should do it. I honestly don't believe Toronto wants established players. And they'll take their chances in the draft.
I would offer Brooks and Hill, but not Scola. I am not enamored with how Brooks fits in on a team with Yao Ming where he won't have open lanes into the paint. Defensively, Morey stated on record that our backcourt will have to get better or it will change personnel, and frankly I just don't see how Brooks can improve as much as he needs to for us to have a decent defensive backcourt paired up with Kevin Martin. We can't just stiff arm Toronto, if the rumors that LA will put Bynum on the table are true. We need to make it so that Toronto's front office will join ours in trying to convince Bosh NOT to go to LA because right now, that possibility seems much more appealing from his standpoint.
The amount of people who keep writing 'ZOMG DON'T TRADE SCOLA BRO' just blow my mind, considering that he is a free agent and would have to agree to a sign-and-trade to Toronto. That likelihood of that happening is in the range of me selling you a bridge in Brooklyn . . .
i really want Bosh but then when u think about what u have to give up then i really don't want Bosh if we have to trade AB then no hes going to be an allstar and if we have to trade Luis then im not sure it could go both ways but i do love luis and hes hair!!!.....lol..... soo what im hoping is we trade Jordon Hill, David Anderson, Jerrid Jeffers, and some cash and a draft pick thing we got from the kninks thats what im hoping and notice that i didn't put chuch thats because we need a back up center and if we stared chuck for a whole year then we can use him as a back up center at lest............
Steve Nash, Deron Williams, Chis Paul, Chancey Billups, Tyreke Evans , Tony Parker and Russell Westbrook all play in the Western Conference. Brooks chances of being an all-star are pretty slim.
You cant classify somebody as being a superstar on a roster like that. They were also 11-14 during that stretch.
The Miami heat have been playing .500 basketball in the EC for many years (when Wade is playing). I guess Wade is not a superstar. In fact, with this logic, there can be no superstars found on seeds 5-15 on the EC teams, then. And Kobe was not a superstar in 2005, and barely a superstar from 2006-2007. Bosh also not a superstar. And all those times when a certain players team didn't do well... Just buy an education with whatever money you have.
That may be true however Bosh would be a Wonderful Insurance policy for Yao and the other forwards to say the least. Injuries are unfortunately a part of the game. If the Rockets are able to add Bosh by trading Very Good Draft picks, Creative moves, Cash, FA, etc. then that is cool because Bosh will make the Rockets an even Better team. He does have a very pricey contract and worst case scenario in the unlikely event that things don't mesh with Bosh during the season, you know that Morey can always find a way to trade him.
I agree also, although I wouldn't mind if bosh came to the team there's no need to think bosh is the ONLY good option the Rockets have.
Just stop making threads if this is the level of threads we are getting when we have 15,000 Bosh threads where you can discuss this. Lol Jon Koncak I remember that clown
