Bosh, to me, is not considered that much of an upgrade over Scola, and plus i would really like to keep Jordan Hill.
We should just target a good backup center, and maybe upgrade the 3 position??

Is it just me or does anyone else feel this way?

Bosh is a big upgrade over Scola. Bosh is a franchise player with alot of skills on offensive and defensive end that scola doesn't have. Scola coming off the bench will be great for the Rockets since I think Scola plays better with Kyle Lowry.

    Yao/ Shaq?

    Bosh/ Scola

    Ariza/ Shane

    Martin/ Budinger

    Aaron/Lowry

I'm pretty sure we'd have to give up Brooks and some of the young players like Budinger/Hill in order to get Bosh.

This is a great point. Scola is one of the best bigs in the league in transition, and Lowry is one of the best PGs in the league in transition. The way they play complements each other perfectly, on both ends.

CBud, Taylor, Hill, this years rockets draft pick
    Both knicks pick

    For

    Chris Bosh

Edit: if the salary doesn't match throw in jaffries or keep CBud and instead trade Ariza

Bosh would be a definite upgrade over Scola but like GlenRice said, moving Scola to the bench would be a huge part of it too.

I hope we get Bosh, although it's looking less likely, but I just hope we get another BIG that can be an impact player to help out Yao limit his minutes and play alongside him.

I don't think we have to give up Brooks. I think a package of Hill, Battier, Jeffery, 2 1st round picks(either Houston or NY) should be enough for Raptors to give us the nod.

The ultimate decision is still up to Bosh.

Wouldn't they need to match salaries? Even combined they would come up with only about $5 mill which would be way short if Bosh wants to be signed as a max contract player.

if bosh was under contract with the raps, then you might be right. however, as a free agent, bosh calls the shots on a sign and trade. he can bolt for a division rival (knicks) or a conference rival (heat, bulls) and leave the raps with nothing in return... or the raps can take our expiring contracts a young guy like hill and a future pick and be happy they got anything at all.

further, if they did demand too much talent in return for a S&T, bosh might not be willing to sign with a weakened roster, ending talks all together... leaving bosh to bolt for a team with cap space, and again leaving the raps with nothing.

in short if the raps don't think they are getting enough, they can pull out of the S&T and lose bosh for nothing which makes no sense for them. it behooves them to work something out. that's why they have no leverage to demand too much talent in return.

the case for standing pat is entirely dependent on Yao. if you think, after five successive years of bone injuries, that the big guy will return triumphantly, its a reasonable bet. (defining triumphant return as close to past form w/o significant injury)

sans Yao, we're a .500 ball club in the tough Western Conference. too good for a probable high draft pick and relatively, bad enough for playoff fodder. assuming a near .500 club even makes the playoffs in the west. imo by adding Yao, the most optimistic evaluation, would make us a dark horse. not impossible just long, long odds.

don't know if we need Bosh per se ... we do need something to bolster our chances.

Yes. If we can have got Bosh, we would get another "big" fisher (for example wade.)

i think we have a pretty good team we really dont need a starting pf cuz we have scola however we need a excellent backup pf like what carl landry gave us. My pick for the backup pf would be anthony randolph, this kid has a lot of talent, plus i think we can get him by giving the warriors our 14th pick, and either david andersen, or taylor.

Morey has clearly shown that he takes emotion out of the player-movement-equation 100% of the time, PERIOD (think Landry). For obvious reasons, Yao is the only untouchable player on the team. There are other players that are a safe bet to stay of course--but they are not untouchable like Yao. This could obviously change with time, but not in the next 2-3 years (unless Yao goes the way of Ralph Sampson---OMG--reverse jinx).

Having said that, I do not want to give up too much to get Bosh. I do expect that if we do land Bosh we will have to give up some player that will hurt to let go.....Like Brooks or Budinger or the potential of Jordan Hill.

I'm not too enthusiastic on acquiring Bosh. I think we have better avenues, when considering how much money he will require. I like our draft pick, or perhaps we can move up? Maybe land Greg Monroe, or a long shot Cousins. Or move down, get a couple of late first round gems, or early second round?
What about the Al Jefferson and rights to Rubio, that sounds extremely promising if Morey could pull that one off.
There are more actions to be considered, and when I look at the larger scope, I believe Bosh is just too expensive ( and I don't wanna lose our core and young players ie. Bud, Hill, Lowry) versus these other options we have.
Scola is really coming into his own as well.

Scola/Lowry/Budinger would make a great fast break combo off the bench

    Bosh's destination:

    NY 27%

    Chicago 22%

    Miami 15%

    Lakers 15%

    Rockets 8%

    Others 12%

The proper question is: What do the Rockets need?

Did you get that from somewhere or did you make that up?
