well like yall kinda dissapointed in hidalgo this season. and last season. when will he turn out of his slump?? but if he is in such a slump i think the stros shoudl give jason lane a shot at the position!! share tiem with merced in the outfield. he was a proven hitter in AAA ball and i think he will be a great compliment in outfield. at least till hidalgo finds his way out of this horrible slump. i know merced deserves to play too but now its the time for the young ones to shine. hey we can do it with pitching. might as well try it out with the batters too!!!
In 12 games he is hitting .294 with a .353 slugging %. Hidalgo just looks clueless at the plate right now and is hitting right around .230. I think it is time for Lane to play. He has won the MVP in every minor league he has played in. He isn't going to develop any more in the minors...he has to play in the bigs to get any better than he already is.
Then again, with the absurd amount of money we're paying Hidalgo, it seems a bit odd to send him to New Orleans or Round Rock. That said, I do hope that they find an opening for Lane.
That was a pretty p***y rant. You need to work on that. Next time I go to the grocery store and see someone split up their 20 items into two sets of 10, and pay for them seperately in order to check out in the express line you'll be getting a very good example of how to rant properly.
I suspect he means allowing him to continue to play at the minor league level if the major leaguers walk out. That may have something to do with it but it came down to he or Zinter once Hunter was activated. I suspect that even if they weren't potentially going on strike, Lane would have been sent down to ensure he gets playing time.
He's on the 40-man Major League roster. If the players strike, he (and everyone else on a 40-man) strikes also.
Buck That's not how it worked last time (1994). The players in the minors who were also on the 40 man roster continued to play minor league baseball. Even though they are on the 40 man roster, they are not earning major league service time or getting paid major league minimum salaries or getting major league benefits while in the minors.
That is what I meant. If they avoid the strike I would bet the stros bring him up before Sept 1st. DD
