WTF is up with people, is this freakin heat getting their minds f'd up?

My mom and lil bro got there apt. broken into and they took their flat screen and jewlery.

Pretty sure it was someone they knew cause they opened my brother's window and got in thru there. The police got finger prints but they may be botched since my bro's are on there.

    Sorry man, that f'n blows.

I have a plott hound that's still pretty young to be a guard dog. He does alert me when i have him outside. I had him in the cage during the time it happened. I'm planning on taking him to man's best friend.

    Of course.

    1) They know how easy it was the 1st time

    2) They know what you have in your house, and may come back for what they didn't have room for.

    3) They know you probably replaced your stuff with newer stuff.

This really sucks. Our neighbors had their place broken into a few weeks ago. They caught the guy who did it and he is in jail now but they are out the money for all the stuff he stole.

I have no idea how to handle the insurance but if you like dogs I suggest you get one. I had a cop (10+ years on the force) tell me that he had never been to a burglary or home invasion where the home owners had a large dog inside the house. I know I have made it a point to let all my neighbors know my dog is loose in the house and will absolutely light you up if you come in the house (whether I'm home or not). I assume anyone breaking in will be someone who either knows me or knows a neighbor so that info will get to them. If not, the dog(s) meets everyone at the door (or window) anyway so they will find out pretty quick. Even if your dog doesn't bite (I know a lot of people are not comfortable with that) just having a large dog in the house is deterrent enough.

I have a feeling they're coming back. I'm trying to make sure I get everything better secured now.

I think they knew my father's schedule. My parents own a local moving company in Houston and the crime took place from 4PM-7PM. I bought the corner house that's next to my parent's houses. We have six foot fences along the whole property. I just have a gut feeling it was someone that worked for him that just knew he wasn't there because he's normally outside everyday. My father is the type of guy that if there's sunlight, he's outside working.

That sucks to hear that Cheeze.

You should go to Fry's they have some pretty cheap cameras you can set up real fast.

You need secretly disguised weapons all over your house just in case. See, if you disguise the weapons, your kids won't find them or hurt themselves and the bad guys won't know what to look for, lemme give you some examples:

See, this knife-spoon is so cleverly hidden you couldn't see it coming. How about these other weapons:

With these three guns you can shoot the bad guy dead all without drawing suspicion to your self. Offer him a cup of soda, then boom, pow, bam, headshot.

In all seriousness, I fell for ya bro.

Get a big effing dog. I suggest a Mastiff.

As for why they left random things...thieves are stupid. Think about it- so much risk, so little reward. Crime isn't sexy like Ocean's 11. It's hard work and doesn't pay.

yup it really does suck and I hope you get things sorted out and hopefully the wife isnt too freaked out. Just curious what area do you live in?

I always thought getting dead bolt locks, etc was not very useful since the most common point of entry is through the window. Well good luck
