I am the type of person who is pretty easy to please when it comes to food. I don't eat extravagant foods and I only splurge on special occasions. When eating out, I am more often than not happy with what I order and am rarely disappointed by a meal. I'll often order simple items off the menu such as pasta, burgers, chicken tenders, fajitas, etc. I'm not very adventurous when it comes to food. With that said, I've found that not many people I know are like me in this respect. Many of my friends and members of my family always seem to be complaining about something they ate not being up to par. I've always wondered if it was merited or if they were b****ing just to be b****ing. At times I fill like I eat to feel a void, while at other times, I can take the time to really enjoy what I'm eating. I don't know; maybe I'm the oddball. Or maybe I need to step up the quality of food that I'm eating so as to see what I have been missing out on.
I'm the same as you. Not picky at all with food. In fact, I never add salt, pepper, etc. to my food. I dont even know when food needs salt, I just know when something has too much of it. I think ppl should be that way, but that's never going to happen.
If my meals can come from a pill, I'd take it. Eating is a needed inconvenience to me. So my palate is seriously into comfort food...mom's cooking. Since I'm not a fan of eating, I found juicing my veggies and blending my fruits an excellent supplement to my meat & carbs.
Growing up I was so used to your "Classic American" stuff. Hot dogs, burgers, etc. etc. Why? That's all my parents ever ate...unsophisticated junk...and no not because it's American. And not unsophisticated as in culture, but more so in a preparation and look? I suppose. But it is delicious. It wasn't until I got older that I started eating better stuff, and going out to eat often. So I guess my taste went from I'll eat anything, to really watching what I eat.
I used to be like that...I eat regular food. All the ordinary stuff. Everything usually tasted pretty good. It wasn't until recently that I started eating food thats a bit more refined. Boy was I missing out. I can honestly say that I never really knew what "good food" was until I started exploring my options (except moms home cooking of course). Now I have a problem with just mediocre food. I guess its because I notice the difference now. The stuff I used to eat before wasnt that great when compared to the tasty new things. This is where the problem is. My suggestion to you is...dont go exploring for something better cause its there and its more expensive. If you stick with what you know, then you wont know what your missing and will save a few bucks in the process. Nah! I'm just kidding. I say ENJOY food. Thats what its there for. Life is too short to miss out on something as important as food. Some people have the tendency to do a little comparative eating and want to tell the whole world their opinion. Others just like to b****. I would say its a combination of both. Go out and try some new stuff that you might like and you might see what those people are talking about.
i was a pretty basic eater but have changed over the last few years. I'm still pretty easy to please but i have expanded my horizons on kinds of food i eat. I can appretiate the really nice meals, but I have no problem with something simple. I don't even recall the last time i complained about food. I mean, i could find something to knit-pick, but that would just be complaining for the sake of complaining. I've thought the exact same thing for a long time.
I really like big flavors. To a certain extent, the more spice the better. To me, the quality of the spice and preparation is more important than the quality of the food itself. In my mind, the food should complement the spice and not the other way around.
I eat out A LOT. A LOT. Sometimes, because someone has "a headache", I can't. I respect that, but I wished I could.
Very diverse...I'll eat just about anything, but stay away from fast food, well, maybe one a month/quarter...Mostly a good steak with a glass/bottle of red wine..did that this past weekend...mmmm... but when I was married, I would never eat leftovers...it would sit in the fridge a couple of days, then get thrown away...Now, I don't let anything go to waste...my good friend doesn't eat any leftovers (he's married), especially pizza...to me, pizza is best when its leftover...
I hate people who send their food back because they don't like how it tastes... well if you don't like it... order something else... dont try to make the cook/chef guess what you're into... I had to stop eating out with a friend because of that. (that's what she said) There is 1 quirk I do have though, when shopping, and I come across something as "original" or "alternate flavor"... I always, always, choose the alternate flavor... this typically applies to snacks, but among other items as well
Almost exactly what I was gonna post. I hate visiting relatives now who live in more rural/suburban areas, when they wanna "go out," we go to Applebee's. I don't like going to places that just offer the usual stuff anymore.
