I find myself in need of purchasing an ATX computer case with a 350 Watt (or more) power supply. I am going to slowly rebuild my computer back up, but with more recent parts (nearly everything in my machine right now is 4 years old). I haven't been very happy with what I have seen locally here in Dallas at stores I have been to, and I know that you can get some great deals online, but I don't want to be screwed. Anyone have any suggestions?
Find the best prices on pricewatch.com and look up the companies on resellerratings.com to avoid shady businesses. http://www.resellerratings.com/index.pl
There should be some great PC Parts stores in Dallas. Check pricewatch for what you want, then find out what stores are in Dallas. Shop those. I wouldn't buy a case over the net. Shipping will kill you. Just go and buy a ChenMing/ChenBro/Antec case. I don't know if you've done much of this before, but I know a number of PC hardware reviewers in Dallas, and I'll ask if they have any recommendations. The key is to find those wholesaler type places, NOT retail. Here in Houston, I buy from http://www.axiontech.com (which just burned down ), and http://www.puicorp.com For other parts you can get online, http://www.newegg.com is pretty good, but I would buy local before online if the price is the same.
www.pricewatch.com is pretty cheap and you get a good overview of prices. But they kill you with shipping. www.newegg.com is generally regarded as one of the best computer parts site out there. Ive used it numerous times and never had a problem. My hard drive went bad recently and after 6 months, the gave me a full refund for the price that i paid for it.
Thanks, guys. I went ahead and ordered one over pricewatch because it had free shipping and looked like the kind of case I was searching for.
This looked liked a pretty good deal. Hope yours was as good.... http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=500SEL
davo I have used that case in your link. Its not bad at all my customer really liked it. This is my next case purchase. http://www.thermaltake.com/products/cases/6000a.htm
Damn, davo...that case is a lot better than the one I ended up ordering. Although the one I got had free shipping, so the one you linked probably would have cost me about 10-15 dollars more in the end... Oh well, I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.
you're really not getting free shipping. They include that in the price. If you notice when you sort by prices, they list the final amount you will pay, including shipping.
Well, however you want to interpret it. On the site I ended up ordering from, some cases had free shipping and some didn't. Others that were comparable to the case I ordered had the same price, but I would have ended up paying 10-15 dollars more when they added shipping.
