Kites: New Bollywood film with Mexican Bombshell Barbara Mori

Seems like a "typical" Bollywood flick, but I'll check it out anyways. I like Hritkhik, though sometimes I feel as if he is wasting his talent in these types of movies. Very talented actor. I don't know who the actress is, but obviously a hottie.

 

Thanks, thats what I figured. Haven't seen any good Indian movies lately, but his acting in Fiza was awesome.

Then he has to do crap like Dhoom, etc. to ruin it.

You need to see "La Mujer De Mi Hermano." It is some powerful MEXICAN film making. Oh, yeah, and Bárbara Mori is in it. AND needless to say, a dude is IN it.

It's currently at 86% on RT. Only 14 reviews, but I doubt it'll get much more. Looks like it should be a pretty good movie.

I went to see this tonight at the Angelika (free popcorn). I walked out halfway through... this is the first time I have done that. The movie has no substance.

Yeah they spent a lot on it,
yeah Barbara Mori looked hot as hell
yeah the camera angles were pretty cool

but everything else about it was awful! The acting, the time they spent staring at each other, the action, the accents... everything.

I went in with a really open mind about the story. I was ready to accept almost anything as the premise of the movie, but I could not take it past some time after the intermission. Yes, there's an intermission.

This movie is 130 mins long, and they are apparently cutting the time to 90 mins (removing songs) to release it as a hollywood movie. It is going to bomb so badly, or at least it should. They honestly do not have 90 mins worth of content let alone 130. The sad thing is, the trailer looked sooo good, but it turns out the they took the only good parts to make it. The trailer also makes the movie seem really fast paced... nope. Total opposite. Like I said, they spend an obscene amount of time having people just stare at each other.

Waste of a movie and plot. It really could've turned out better if the director took any sort of time management into account.

 

Indian movies suck!!!

 

i saw it over the weekend. i thought about walking out myself - it was really slow and boring.

i thought the movie was mostly a two hour audition tape for Hrithik Roshan to get into hollywood. so i guess those positive reviews on rotten tomatoes are a good thing for him.

on the flip side, all the reviews in the indian papers that i've read are negative. i dont think it earned much at the box office either. hopefully that means those of us that watch hindi movies will be spared any more of his movies

 

Yup, I definitely agree about the audition tape. I wouldn't be surprised to see him as a surprise character on some show/movie, similar to Anil Kapoor and 24.

The Rotten Tomatoes reviewers all seem to be giving the movie more credit than it deserves either in order to help popularize hindi movies, or they liked that it had a more western feel to it and identified with the setting more, or they genuinely liked it... in which case they lost credibility with me.

I'm glad the Indian audience isn't lapping up this deuce that these guys dropped. It is certainly below par for even for an average hindi movie. It's a shame because the Mexican girl acted decently, but couldn't prevent the trainwreck.

I have heard rumors that she might do another Bollywood film with the "King" Shahrukh Khan. I think few South Americans have entered the Bollywood industry over the last few years also.
