[ESPN Rumors] What the rockets will offer

After last Tuesday night's draft lottery, the Nets nabbed the No. 3 pick, while the Timberwolves were granted the No. 4 pick.

    From espn rumors
    http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/features/rumors#16309

But according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, there are two teams looking to trade up into those spots: "Houston and Portland are two teams that will be working No. 3 Nets and No. 4 Wolves hard to move up in the draft, league sources say."

Both Portland and Houston have some younger chips to trade in an effort to move up, and could be targeting Derrick Favors, DeMarcus Cousins or Wesley Johnson, all guys that project in the 3-5 spots right after John Wall and Evan Turner.

But according to Steve Kyler of HOOPSWORLD, the Rockets aren't looking to give up any meaningful assets.

He writes: "Word is the Rockets are in the market for a top 10 selection and would pay cash to move up. It is unlikely the Rockets give up meaningful assets to move up but they are in the market."

Kyler also adds that Knicks, Bobcats and the Mavericks are "all in the market for additional draft assets."

The Grizzlies own three first-round picks, so it's possible the Knicks -- who's first-round pick is owned by the Jazz -- could look to snatch one of them.

    -----

Good I'm not sure I wanna give up anything of value for Cousins (possible attitude problem) or Favors (saw him play at Gtech and looked like he had motor issues.) If we can swing a deal of money or expiring contracts thats a different story though

Did ya'll see that face the Nets owner made when they got the # 3 pick, unless something freezes over, I don't think he's willing to part with that pick. I think he fully expected the #1 pick.

    Good call!..

Everyone talks about Cousins' "bad attitude". Other then the Louisville game (where he actually reacted to getting kneed in the head) there was absolutely no evidence that he has a bad attitude. People on here and everyone else has jumped on board with espn's commentary, even though there is absolutely no evidence of a bad attitude.

The guy plays hard, and has toughness about him that the rockets could really use.

Everyone here goes and complains about Yao not being hard nosed, but when we see a player who is, we talk about his bad attitude. All this talk about Cousins is from people who read some bad "journalist's" point of view and repeat it without actually looking at the situation and making up their own mind, pure laziness!

I'm surprised we're running with this. Comes from Hoopsworld.

I bet they like Cole Aldrich for a backline Center as well...

Keep Jordan Hill, upgrade our depth at Center and we are good to go!

    Aaron Brooks
    Kevin Martin
    Trevor Ariza
    Luis Scola
    Yao Ming

    Kyle Lowry
    Chase Budinger
    Shane Battier
    Jordan Hill
    Demarcus Cousins/Derrick Favors/Cole Aldrich/Hassan Whiteside/Ekpe Udoh/Greg Monroe

Hustle players to throw in for a couple minutes...
    Jared Jeffries

76ers have Louis Williams and Jrue Holiday, and I would think they would only trade away that pick is if another team would take either Brand or Dalamber(sp).

Also the word is that Cousins have maturity and attitude issues (think Beasley 2.0), I wouldn't be surprised if he drops out of the top 5.

If that is true, then perhaps Morey only wants to move up enough in order to have better odds of drafting Whiteside?

I doubt it. If he's inside the first 10 picks. Whiteside will not go higher than 12

Great, then the Rockets can trade Brooks for the #6 pick.

Thats why I have no comment. No way the rockets can think they will be able to move up in this talent laden draft only offering cash. Thats a joke.
