With all of the speculation going on here for big free agent signings and trades I think it would be a dissapointment if the Rockets didn't make a big deal. Do you think Morey will make a big move or not? If you do, please post the player you think he will get. (Get ready for 100 people saying Bosh)

Maybe not huge like Bosh, but a big signing like Ariza is likely. I wouldn't mind either way. We do have the 14th pick regardless.

I'm defining big as in a significant name player, so I vote no.

I don't really don't understand why ppl think Bosh is a strong possibility. The only ppl who think that are ppl on this forum. I mean, I've never read the Rockets mentioned as a big off-season player anywhere except here. You'd think it was a 50/50 shot from the way ppl talk around here.

I have never seen so many big name FAs on the market like this off season. Given the amount of assets we have, I think Morey will land us a big name b/c from what I read Morey isn't content with the current makeup of this team at all. Just wait and see.

Nope, they said the same things last year, and nothing happened.

I expect the same for this year.

Like him or not Ariza is likely to be our starting SF for years to come...unless he gets traded, so I consider him a big free-agent.

I guess the OP meant star-type players, though.

I don't really remember "the same things" said last year. We knew Tracy was gonna be out for awhile and Yao's health was uncertain. It's hard to build around that. I seem to remember Morey stating that we would be more likely to make a bigger move around the trade deadline, which we did.

The vibe I've gotten from all of Morey's statements/interviews is that we are definitely going shake things up pretty largely this offseason.

Last year was totally different, IMO.

We knew from the moment Yao announced foot surgery and was going to be out for the whole 09-10 season, we were not going to be a championship contender.

There was no point in getting a big time free agent because we would be waisting money for a possible 1st or 2nd round exit.

Morey has done a great job of accumulating assets just for this 2010 free agency. I think we will land a big time free agent, but not necessarily a popular one.

I think we will do something unexpected.

I mean look at Artest and Martin... nobody predicted those.

A better question would have been whether you think the Rockets will make a major move before the deadline. To that, I would say absolutely. Something will happen before the deadline, but it might go down to the wire. I like the deadline strategy, because we get to play the vulture and exploit desperate general managers.

Morey always seems to do something big every offseason. I expect some major move to occur.

    2007: Scola+Landry
    2008: Artest
    2009: Ariza+Budinger

I did not include Brooks since we acquired him with our own draft pick and is not a "move," but still an important piece acquired in the offseason.

For this season, I do not expect a guy at the caliber of Bosh, but hopefully a strong role player that can contribute. We'll get our main piece at the trade deadline when bad teams have lost hope and are selling solid players at discount prices (Iggy?)

of coz, if ppl think getting a role player is a major acquisition, every team made, is making, and will make major acquisition in every season. then, what's the point to discuss it?

I'm a bit confused on the whole bosh thing because last time I checked we had that one player... umm... Luis Scola who is pretty darn good in his own right. Not that many big offseason players that'd fit in either seeing as we have K-mart locked down on shooting guard, AB on the point etc. But I guess if i had to see any position be changed it'd be that one... (ntm Scola and Bosh both wear #4)

They have too many assets to do nothing, so I'm sure something will happen...

...that being said, I think they are a long shot for Bosh, mostly because I think they are far down on his list of places he wants to go.

Al Jefferson's twitter page makes it seem as if he and Rubio are coming to Houston.

    http://twitter.com/Al_Jefferson

But judging by how juvenille his tweets are (he calls Lebron a ***), you can't trust anything he says, and I dunno if I would want someone that immature.

Maybe a friend got hold of his twitter account or he is drunk or something.

that account has 15 followers and seems obviously fake to begin with. There is absolutely no way that that account is the real Al Jefferson.
