Anyone know the details about this? Man it would be hideous to see the Rockets not make the playoffs, AND lose their number one pick as well.

We give them our pick next year or another team's pick that is in the top-13. We are not owed any such pick, however.

Question: Is it the Rocket's first round Pick or ANY 1st round pick?

    Rocket River
would falling out of the 1st round be so bad next year?

I think it has to be ours or within 3 spots of ours. If I'm not mistaken, next year's draft should have many exceptional players at the 1 and 2 spots. If OT does not fill his role as expected, a midrange 1st round pick would come in handy. Maybe that is why we are saving all of our 4's (tradeable assets).

B-ball Freak, Rocket River: no need to speculate or try to remember what the conditions were. I just told you. In a previous life, I made it my business to track these things. I'm not infallible, but I did pay particular attention when it came to the Rockets. It can be our pick wherever it lands (including #1) or another team's pick that is in the top-13.

What dumbass in Vancouver made this deal? Basically, if we have anything better than the #13 pick, we would just trade it for the #13 and other stuff. Vancouver always gets the #13 pick(ie, if we end up with the #5 pick, we'd trade the #5 for the #13 + a player or pick).

You don't work at realgm.com (or whichever site it was you worked on) anymore?

we will just get a pick during, befoe, or after the season. I don't think our gm's would let a good draft pick go to waste.

    Want to hear something worse?

We owe our next pick, after next years, to Atlanta for the T. Morris trade. I think the rules state, we cannot loose our picks 2 years in a row - but that pick is due when available.

Bar, we don't owe anything for Terence Morris. We sent them Detroit's pick.

Major, in theory I believe you are right -- though I will throw in the caveat that there may be additional conditions to preclude that. I can't say that there isn't since the conditions are not disclosed be the league.

No, I don't work for RGM anymore. Complications in my personal life forced me to sacrifice some of my longterm projects.

I'm not sure, but I don't think we would be able to trade the pick owed to Memphis since it is not our pick to trade. Memphis owns the rights to it.

if we have to worry about another early first round pick, then we have evolved into the Clippers. How many more early 1st round picks can they pack on that team? We need playoffs now. 1st round and out would be a step in the right direction.

Let's table the 1st round pick discussions for the next, say, 3 years and see where we are. We owe Vancouver next year, so we pretty much will get zippo unless a trade is made, so lets focus on making the first round and using our plethera of second round picks :)
