This one probably got a lot tighter. Check out the measurements from the Boston Globe that NikeStrad posted in the Draft area that were taken in Chicago. Jerome Moiso measured in at 7-0 232. 7 FEET! WOW. DerMarr Johnson measured at 6-9 201. 6-9 SG/SG or 7-0 PF, its going to be real close.

Also, there is a chance that Tskalidis could go before the Rockets. I was reading in the Cleveland TSN that they will still probably take him, and the Chicago camp cleared about the mystery surrounding his weight. Tskalidis is 7-2 283. Thats pretty darn huge. Also, Fizer basically locked himself into the top 3 by measuring out at 6-9 with shoes.

The way things are looking, the Rockets are going to have two tantalizing players to select from, it is going to be interesting to see how this goes.

I will choose Jerome Moiso. The Rockets lack power forwards they don't need any guards. If the Rockets draft DerMarr Johnson they Rockets will have 5 guards

DJ: I assume you're talking about

    Francis
    Moochie
    Bryce
    Shandon
    Cuttino

Bryce is trade bait, and Dermarr Johnson's physique could potentially be groomed into that of a SF (201 lbs? holy smoley).

With 15 potential spots (3 for IR) and the ability of many of the players to play multiple positions there's no reason to not draft Dermarr, in that he could be a SF.

That being said, watch the Rockets draft Courtney Alexander and totally confuse Cuttino.

I feel that the Rockets should draft Johnson not only because of his potential stardom, but because he is from DC and in SLAM Francis said he wanted to see how he does in the pros. That way if Mobley leaves Franchise still has a companion.

That is a very good point dats. The only misgivings I have about drafting Johnson over Moiso is that if we drafted Johnson, there is a good chance Mobley would leave. He and Francis are buds, and I was afraid that if Mobley leaves, we might have an upset superstar on our hands. That situation is good for no one, but if Steve already knows Johnson and likes him, perhaps it wouldn't be that bad.

No brainer -- take DerMarr Johnson. If he is gone, go for Mike Miller. It's a pity Miles will be gone by #9. However, if all three are gone, take T-sak and slide Cato to PF. That way we get an athletic PF who can score and block shots as well as a shot-blocking behemoth who can pass, score AND give Shaq fits. That said, I HOPE Johnson is there. Oh ... forget Moiso. He's too soft. I'd rather see the Rockets take Courtney Alexander or DeShawn Stevenson. We need to net Austin Croshere or Maurice Taylor in free agency. For those who crave Moise, just spell his name Carlos Rogers and everybody is happy.

Mo Taylor isn't soft? He just chooses not to rebound? When did Alou get in this discussion? When did Carlos Rogers ever have a post game? When did Carlos Rogers develop a 15 foot jump shot? When did Rogers become left handed? When did Moiso become injury prone?

Is is because they're both going to be or are lottery choices? Is that it?

Since there apparently is no playing time for Bryce Drew and Carlos Rogers in the cards, wouldn't it be wise to offer Drew and Carlos Rogers to Miami for #10 so we can grab both Johnson/Miller/Miles/Alexander (in that order) and the T-sak. That way the Rockets could slide Cato over to the PF, giving the team a long, athletic PF who can score and block shots. Tsakalitis would be a behemoth clogging the middle who can block shots, pass, rebound, score AND give Shaq fits. Can you imagine Steve Francis/Moochie Norris, Shandon Anderson/Cat Mobley and Walt Williams/DerMarr Johnson teamed with Kelvin Cato/Kenny Thomas and Akeem/T-sak. There would be no relief for our opponents -- especially if we can lure Austin Croshere or Maurice Taylor to join the Rockets. The IR shuttle could stay very busy with Bullard, Massenburg and #38 (if they draft someone better than Pig Miller) in the 12th spot.

Tsakalidis is very unknown. I'm not sure his passing skills are great. His offense is EXTREMELY raw. 10 points per game.his first few years would be good. He *could* be a Shaq stopper with his size. I don't *think* he's a superb shot blocker, but he is a good one.

Orlando has the #10 pick, not Miami.

Orlando wouldn't accept Drew/Rogers for #10 for several reasons.
#1. Drew/Rogers are not that far removed from garbage.
#2. Armstrong is a much better PG than Drew, and they can get E. Barkley, another much better PG than Drew at #13.
#3. Cap restrictions. Orlando wants to save cap. There went another 3.5 mill they could've given to TMac, or Outlaw, or Duncan, or Hill, or Taylor, etc.

Tsakalidis doesn't fit Houston's mold of quick players. I can't imagine a 7'2'' 283 guy being very athletic, only guy with that kind of size who is, is Shaq.

I really want Johnson on this team. But honestly, I'm just happy knowing that a good player will be there for us. I would be happy with any of the guys projected to be there for the #9 pick.

My biggest concern with Moiso is that he we will get burned consistently by the German players in the league. Nowitzki could have his number for years. Remember that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. [IMG]

a-train: It is true. He touched the 12.5 foot mark in his Hawks workout. Scary leaping/height/arms ability.

    Draft Moiso. Trade Moises.

    Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.

Take my word. Draft Jerome Moiso. I'm a UCLA alum, and the man is dynamite. He made great strides this past year. He was instrumental in UCLA's defeat of Stanford this year. He put that team on his back in the best college game of the year, alot of people say. He's got the softest touch I've seen for a big man since Hakeem. In fact, he will remind you of Hakeem for the next 14 years if we pick him. For what it's worth, the man has the most exciting alley-oop dunks you could ever want! Don't pull another mistake, Rockets, like you did in not picking Rashard Lewis a couple of years ago. Pick another classy man with an elegant accent like you did in 1984.

There is absolutely no way we are going to draft Johnson. As talented as he is, or could be, he doesn't fit. The idea of the draft is to improve your team. If we draft Demarr, then mobes bolts, and we end up where we started. That pick doesn't help us at all unless we package it with a trade of Mobley or Anderson. It's totally a waste to draft the mad hopper. Moiso is pretty much a lock at this point. Any talk of Demarr is simply a ploy to get the teams in front of us to draft small. That was our game plan from the begining. Like I said, Moiso is a lock unless something floats down the river.

This great debate will be answered very soon! The good news is both players fit the Rockets needs and at least one should be available at #9. TIME WILL TELL!

i get the feeling Rudy and CD want neither Moiso or Johnson. there's been so many rumors about the rockets wanting to either move up and draft Miles or move down so they can get Etan Thomas. They don't seem happy with the prospects at #9.
