It should be noted that 9 times out of 10, it's not about the destination to the free agents, it's about the biggest contract.

they aren't perceived as suck players by guys who have to play against them.

It amuses me when fans think their opinions on the value of players is shared by people who actually play the game.

So am I wrong in my belief that our players are underrated in general?

I never said that the players think the same way, nor that they share my opinion.

I threw the "perceived lack of surrounding role players" out there as a hypothetical. It may or may not be what some of these guys are thinking. I'm not in their heads, I don't know.

Houston is the 10th largest TV market in the country. They are essentially the 12th largest NBA TV market considering the 2 LA teams and including New Jersey as part of the New York market.

it aint unattractive. it's got a decent team, decent arena, decent market. a place like toronto for geographic reasons or clippers for management is unattractive

Houston's simply not as attractive as a number of other markets. when you're talking about top free agents who can go anywhere Houston might be down on the list

but that's far from unattractive as in guys don't want to come here or refuse to play here.

Plan and simple we were not in the playoffs last season. And it's very easy to make it to the playoffs in the NBA.

So he'd get MORE money coming here on a sign and trade.
    How's THAT for a clue?

Bosh made a list for a sign and trade. That's why he listed the Lakers, even though they have no cap room at all.

I know exaggerating is fun for the sake of conversation, but I don't think Houston's any less attractive to free agents than most NBA cities. Sure, it's less attractive than Boston, L.A., Philadelphia or New York, which are either megacities or have storied franchises or both. And it's more attractive than Toronto, Milwaukee, Utah or Sacramento, which are considered too small or cold or both. It's probably just as attractive as San Antonio or Portland or Golden State. A lot of NBA players live in Houston, it's warm, big and there's no state income tax, so I'd be surprised if many players had it very far down their lists.

Players don't view nor have they ever viewed the rockets as contenders. I said this a few months back about wing players asking tracy about what its like to play with yao. He's said many times its good, but its kinda difficult. Now I mentioned that because people on this board probably think thats impossible. Well, its not really and its not like when guys thought kobe was crazy for wanting shaq out. Guys view Yao as a needy player. Needy as in you have to do so much for him to get the ball and he needs to get the ball when he's in because of his limited stamina that its really not worh the headache. Now for a guy like martin, its not a problem, but for a top tier guy, it might be. Houston also have shown a propensity to be cheap/ Since the mle, they have spent the max amount 2 times. Some teams spend it every year. I'm not saying throw money around like cuban used to, but taking the 25% higher salary player vs the other end probably nets you the better player.

I didn't say Houston wasn't an attractive destination, just pointing out that Austin would be a great landing spot if we had a pro sports organization.

BTW,I didn't say NBA team, I said pro sports team. Sharks/Jags
