Reasons that make Houston unattractive to Free Agents

    Any thoughts? Yao's lack of consistent health? Perceived lack of supporting role players? Not enough money? Depth perception at the Toyota Center?

    Being a major city, Houston is relatively liberal but Texas, as a whole, is very conservative. I'm not sure if that factors into the minds of some players. Probably not.

    Probably the fact that Houston doesn't have the cap room to SIGN a big-time free agent. :rolleyes: Get a clue, gentlemen.

    I wouldn't think so.

    I don't understand why Austin doesn't consider trying to get a pro sports team. We're the biggest city not to have one. I think if we did the city would be an attractive destination for superstar athletes.

    small market. espn hates us. nba allstars are now primadonnas. that makes the nba very hard to watch for me. its like wwe. all scripted. you have the haves and have nots.

    we lucked out with hakeem and yao winning lottery. thats the only way.

    ..........Houston is a large market, it just isn't a MEGA market like NYC or LA. Cities that people from other countries come to visit.

    Lack of supporting role players? Who has more quality role players than the Rockets?

    Not enough money? When has money prevented us from acquiring a player? Who else spends $6M buying 2nd round draft picks?

    Who are the teams that are attractive to free agents? Has any team consistently acquired big name free agents? The attractive teams are the ones with money, simple as that.

    I don't really like the Toyota Center, it's just so generic, with no individualality. We have the most generic in game chants, we should have an organ lik MSG or Staples Center. Also the fan lights are too bright. Keep the lights focused on the court. Sheesh! :mad:

    Houston is very attractive to NBA players. There's always been a ton of NBA players who live in Houston in the offseason. That includes players who never played for the Rockets.

    BTW both San Jose and Jacksonville are larger than Austin but don't have an NBA team.

    Note how I prefaced that with "perceived." ie, our role players are underrated. Unless you're trying to tell me that our role players suck.
