Isnt it kinda sad that we got

    the #2 pick in 99' - Francis

    and #1 pick in 02' - Yao

only 3 years apart but couldnt win or be contenders.

i think if philly was ignorant enough to give up the #2 pick for brands contract, you'd have to take it for a chance to get turner or possibly wall and think to 4 years down the road with martin, brooks, bud and turner/wall, that surrounded by role players would be a dream

who knows maybe brand has a breakout year

Maybe Morey can package Brand with some of the Knicks picks....to someone that might want him.......

He is the wizard after all.

a healthy brand would be comparable to bosh and if not you only got him for 3 years, knowing morey brand would revert back to his clipper days

    In a New York Minute.

Basically $52 million for the #2 overall pick. I'll chip in $10.

I would do it in a heart beat.

    1. not my money. Les needs to prove that he can go over the LT. this is the chance.
    2. the higher the pick, the better chance we can get a franchise player. The only way that Rockets can be a contender is through the draft. This is the golden chance.
    3. Brand is likable. He is no TMAC.

IDK... Elton Brand had some flashes last year... That's just a lot of money to trade for. If you get Turner, what happens to Martin?

Overpriced. I'd rather the Rockets go after a backup like Varnado, if they can't get Favors or Cousins.

I guess Mark Cuban would be interested if he can't flip the Dampier contract for a max FA.

As for the Rockets, I'm on the fence. If the market for Scola is over 10M per season, I would probably rather have Turner + Brand. So for example for Ariza + Battier(bought out, returns to Rockets) YES. Jeffries + Battier, I'm not so sure. Then we'd have less flexibility to go for a max guy.

I definitely think this is better than the Iguodala + Brand package that was offered at the deadline.

    Why not?
Depends on what we lose in the process.
    but .. overall

BRAND - What will be asking him to do here???
Play Defense. . . and get some rebounds
    everything else is just gravy

Ariza+Jeffries+Andersen+Hayes (bought out) +14 for Brand and #2 is fair to me.

I know DM will be turning this over in his mind for the next few days.

We'd also still have the #14 pick, plus Hill. I guess we'd have to trade these, plus somebody else with a good-sized salary, for a veteran big man.

One problem is, we don't have really bad contracts. I can hardly imagine who we'd send back to match Brand's contract. Jeffries' contract is $6.9 million. That leaves us $10 million more per year, to go. Battier ($7.3) or Ariza ($6.3), definitely. Is Brian Cook still on the books? We could S&T him. So we'd send Jeffries, Battier, Cook.

If we are willing to lower our expectations for this year, I'd say do it, keep Hill, use the #14 pick. I think the odds are good that either Hill or the #14 pick turns into a star.

To the people that are saying hell no...STOP.

We are talking about the #2 Pick here, not Turner.

I say hell yeah, Turner has a lot of potential...not only that what if the Wizards don't want Wall? You just never know, Wall could be sitting right there for us.

    Hell yes, Yes, and Yes.

While Brand has a horrible contract, he is far from useless. You may even get a guy that says "This team has a chance to do some things." and gets re-energized.

I'd do this trade without looking back man, everyone wants a franchise player like LeBron and here is the #2 pick in the draft right here.

I remembered Cook being waived right after I posted that. I was just looking at a list of salaries for numbers that fit. Doh!

Also, we have to wonder what it would take to move up from #2 to #1...

I would totally do it... but I wouldn't draft Turner with the 2nd pick, I would go with Demarcus Cousins...

Plus by taking Elton Brands horrific albatross contract we wouldn't have to give up our 14th pick and draft Paul George, who's been killing it against other Lottery picks at team practices(has even gotten T-mac comparison), and according to Ford, he wouldn't be surprised if George went as high as the 5th pick...

    Brooks / Lowry
    Martin/ George(14th)
    Ariza / Budinger
    Scola/ Hill / Brand
    Yao / Cousins(2nd) / Hayes

Hell yes our future would be set!!
