Nick Cave and Warren Ellis - The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford Also, I purchased the vinyl copy of the new national album. It included a voucher for 2 free downloads of the album in MP3 format. If anyone wants it, email me through the board and I’ll give you the link/code.
Worst live act I've ever seen. Absolutely awful. I actually liked them until I saw that farce of a live performance.
I agree Sleigh Bells is trash. Its music created by American Apparel that should only be played in their stores an no where else.
Pere Ubu - The Art of Walking John Zorn - The Big Gundown: Plays the Music of Ennio Morricone Lush - Split
I'm nowhere NEAR the outlets to hear who's not and who's not on music, but Facebookers are going abuzz about this band. So I gave them a listen and critique - They got some hard jarring beats and riffs. Her choice lyrics of "oh oh-oh no no no" on every song got stale. They're alright, I dont dislike. To me its advanced pep rally music, if thats what the point is supposed to be. Its stuff you'll probably hear during a sporting event. Or stuff that coulda gone on the Drumline movie soundtrack. It seems anytime a sing-songy girl "goes hard" on a song these its groundbreaking.
Band of Horses- Infinite Arms (2010) Wolf Parade- Expo 86 (2010) Foals- Total Life Forever (2010) Nas and Damian Marley- Distant Relatives (2010) Born Ruffians- Say It (2010) Band of Horses on Letterman Is it just me or is 2010 shaping to be one of the single greatest years for indie releases? So many epic albums this year.
Janelle Monae - ArchAndroid I haven't heard an album that amazed me like this in two years. And none that came out immediately before I listened to them in even longer. Every song tackles a different style in a fresh way, and above all it's prevailing sentiment is raw ambition. It reminds me a lot of Roisin Murphy's Ruby Blue in that sense, and that's about the highest compliment I can give (Ruby Blue is my second favorite album of the decade of the 2000's). She just went on Letterman and killed it, with even P Diddy bowing to her at the end. Like the female counterpart of Andre 3000, but better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMyc148Do_Q
You forgot Liars' Sisterworld, Jonsi's Go and the new MGMT album, but yes you are right in your statement. Do you know when the next Grizzly Bear album, TV on the Radio album, and Animal Collective album will be out? I heard that TV on the Radio were on hiatus for now and AC is releasing some soundtrack album to a project they have been working on but it is not considered a true studio album.
Pere Ubu - The Tenement Year Pere Ubu - Cloudland Sun Ra - Lanquidity Frank Zappa - Burnt Weeny Sandwich Captain Beefheart - Safe as Milk
The Residents - God in Three Persons Sun Ra - Strange Celestial Road I now have 5 Sun Ra CDs and although they are all great, "Strange Celestial Road" is, I feel, by far the best one.
Don't forget new albums from Arcade Fire and The Strokes later this year as well. I haven't heard anything about a new Grizzly Bear album this year. It would be welcome, but they've been touring like madmen for the last year so I would expect them to take a break for a while.
