I was wondering if anyone could confirm that this is a legit site. I'm trying to convince one of my family members to claim some unclaim property that appears on this site, but they don't think it is legit since you have to put in your SS#. I would appreciate the help if anyone has ever used this. Thank you. http://www.window.state.tx.us/up/
It's legit It's the states website. Every now and then when the news has nothing to report, they have this as a story.
My grandma has 3 listings, not really sure what the property is. One says AIG Common. The other 2 have no description.
Mine was from a title company. I entered my SS in and it prints out a form that you sign and mail in with proof of this and that. Since mine was for a house, I just had to send in proof of ownership (sales contract) and proof of living there at the time of the unclaimed property was left unclaimed ( Electric bill).
there's another thread on this, but I'm not sure what to search for. I did this a couple weeks back. $111 at a house I lived at in Galveston about 5 years ago.
wow. ~300 bucks from UH. Says I need to send in proof of my SSN. Do I just photocopy my ss card? I don't like that idea...
I am owed 50 bucks from Iomega Corporation. I believe those are the same guys who used to make those ZIP disks. I think its a trap though. When I show up at the office to claim my 50 bucks, they are gonna send me to jail for bopping my midget neighbour on the head 2 years ago. But anyways, the days of Reparations have arrived my friends.
You guys should have no problem sending info to the Texas State Comptroller. Just another arm of the good ol' guvment. I just got a check a week ago for over $400 owed to me from a temp job I had several years back. I printed and filled out the form and sent a copy of my DL and SS card and the check came in less than a month.
I'm pretty sure the state already has it on file somewhere. Sent ours in this morning. The wife opened a savings account years ago at some credit union, then forgot about it. $311 we didn't have yesterday! Thanks, OP.
