yep still would need a backup center that can give us more present on defense.

That's why I'm hoping for Whiteside in the draft. Maybe player like Gortat?

Best case I think is if we move up in the draft and get someone that can help us some right now and be a possible cornstone for the future. Favors possibly...

    he's right.

bosh is better than anyone on the roster. i wouldn't gut the team to get him, but you can't make anyone untouchable.

The Raptors have virtually no leverage. They'll have to take what they can get, because Bosh is leaving either way. They're not getting Brooks. They're also not getting Scola, who is a free agent that the Rockets can't trade without his permission.

this is my biggest issue with the rockets organization. year after year they either get one all star, or one player in the draft who contributes, or they get a role player in the offseason. they never attempt to do all three at once to improve the overall team as a whole like other nba teams do. i guess the rockets wont do anyrthing else after they get their man as usual.

I could see Brooks going. Look at Landry getting shipped out. You know Morey didn't want to pay him so how much could he afford to pay Brooks at the end of the rookie contract? The only reason I hesitate to really think he'll go is that he's too good in the clutch and finishing games. He's proven this year after some trial and error that he is dependable in wire to wire games.

Actually they can trade Scola without his permission if they match a offer sheet and then trade him, he's a restricted free agent

No you can't. You can't trade a player that you match until the middle of the season.

Didn't they get Scola(a player who contributes), Brooks(a player in the draft), Landry (a player in the draft) 3 seasons ago? In 2008, they got Artest(All-star) and Dorsey(Didn't turn into Landry or Brooks), but they did attempt to do more than one thing.

Hill+Jeffries+Andersen+14th pick+2012 first rounder I would think to be a good offer.

Look at what Morey inherited. One of the worst rosters 3-12 in the league. I'm amazed at how quickly he's rebuilt the team, but we're still a couple of seasons away from being a legitimate threat to win a championship.

Nope. There's a waiting period that would prevent them from doing that during the offseason. Bosh would long since have signed with another team.

This package just isn't good enough. Bosh is a super talent and any team in the league can put together a better package than this one. I think it starts with Brooks or Scola, possibly both. And I think it's worth it if we think Lowry can start at PG.

You can't do a sign and trade on match. Those are 2 different things. A sign and trade is only possible, due to a clause that allows trades within 48 hours. A clause made only possible for the sign and trade. This clause is only allowed on contracts that you offer to your own players. That's why other teams can't sign and trade another team's free agents.

A contract offer by another team to Scola would not have that clause. If the Rockets match the contract, they can't trade him until December 15th or 3 months have passed, whichever is longer.

they got most of them players each indivual year almost. rockets been needing a legit power forward for almost a dfecade until we got scola and landry. rockets also been needed a backup center for years even when they already had mutombo also.

with that siad hes ritem as much as it pains me.. forget the love affairs with players that have good ''upside'' and trade them if u must and get a proven superstar that can get u over the hump

potential is great with our yung core but break em up for Bosh

Scola, battier, Jt, and the 14th pick for Bosh, I think that's not a bad offer, only if they match salary though.

Please see the previous posts about why Scola can't be included in any trade this offseason without his permission.

no why trade the 14th pick? Thats a high price especially since Whiteside may be sitting right there in that spot. I hope he falls to us, he'd be a shotblocking presence and back up C for Yao and has a lot of potential.
