...should face a major suspension. I don't have a video, but at the end of the 2nd quarter in the Magic/Celtics game, a fan is heckling referee Joe DeRosa. DeRosa throws a ball INTO THE STANDS, at the fan's head. The fan catches it, then throws it back at DeRosa, who catches it, then points to a security guard and tells him to remove the fan.
And just because someone said something, you throw a ball to him? Why not just calling security if the fan was insulting him? A player cant discuss with a fan no matter what, why a ref can?
pretty unprofessional of derosa. I mean what are you suppose to do with the official ball if he throws it to you? you gotta throw it back lol i personally would have ran away with it <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/siS7GjTxWDg&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/siS7GjTxWDg&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Lol, I feel sorry for that guy. At the end of the video, the guy is like: "Aw *****, why didn't I just stfu"
lol, yall made it sound like he shot a Lebron James chest pass to the guys head! he just flipped him the ball! that guy really should had STFU tho, it dont make sense for anyone to heckle the refs. if anything the ref could take exception to it and really start f***in over your team.
Ref heckling will always happen, and sometimes it's damn deserved too cause a lot of these refs suck ass...but even if they didn't, it's just part of the game. And sometimes it actually works (see Utah), cause I'll be damned if that home court free throw edge is just a coincidence. DeRosa probably has at least a fine coming.
What was the last call that had the crowd upset? This was 3rd quarter right? Still a close game, Celtics bigs with 4 fouls a piece, if I recall.
well my thought was--IF DeRosa wasn't completely insane--the player said something somewhat in jest, the ref tossed him the ball just kinda messing around, and then either before or after tossing it back, he said something way out of line. Then it looked like he was tossing him out after getting the ball back when it really had nothing to do w/that?
What was said doesn't matter ... I teach 500 elementary age school kids, and they say all kinds of crap that, if I took it seriously, it would really piss me off so bad I would throw them against the wall! But it doesn't matter what they say ... you can't do that ... and the same goes for this ref. He needs to remember to not take it personally ... if he feels like the guy needs to be removed from the stands, then fine. But don't throw a ball at him because that makes you the bad guy.
I really hope that, even at their worst, your elementary age school kids are not as bad as pissed off drunk basketball fans.
