Yeah maybe he did "help guide Yao" maybe not. I seem to remember Francis pretty upset the team drafted Yao. Also seem to remember Francis wanting that #1 pick to be fellow Terrapin Chris Wilcox. Damn am I glad the Rockets didn't listen to that. Don't really want anyone responding to this saying we should have drafted Amare either, don't think anyone thought he was worth that pick at the time.
i don`t care what you say about his game anymore, all i know is he`s got MAD hops. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dkhYYvJvKuM&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dkhYYvJvKuM&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

where is stevie now? is he still trying to get back into the league? watching those videos brought back some good memories.....
Francis will always be my favorite player. Yeah he wasn't always the smartest player but he always played hard and loved being a Rocket. I wish we had Daryl Morey back then to have better role players around him. I met him the summer after he got traded at Fonde and he was real down to earth to everybody. You could tell that he loved the city of Houston.
i still the think the no. 1 dunk should've been VC hanging on the rim after shoving his whole arm in. not many ppl had seen that before. even the players and judges looked confused. but that takes some serious hops to accomplish that feat. SF3 wouldve won if he wasn't going up against the greatest dunker of all time. which could make him the 2nd greatest dunker who was actively playing in the NBA up to that time. Gerald Green and James White don't count since they couldn't manage to even get PT.
Steve's heart and confidence was a strength, but it was also a major weakness when taken together with his lack of B-ball IQ. For every clutch play that he'd make, he had at least 3 or more times as many where he would try to "will" the team to a win. This often consisted of him putting his head down and driving into the paint. Unfortunately, he was not good at finding open lanes, so he would often charge into 2 or 3 tall defenders, with no plans on kicking the ball out and no clear angle to take a high percentage shot. The usual result was a badly missed shot or a turnover. That kind of poor execution was a truly frustrating thing to watch and I was so happy when he was finally traded. If only someone could have transplanted Steve's heart into Tracy's body, maybe we would have a few more banners in the rafters.
The Steve Francis today: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/nwK_Egg3TzE&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nwK_Egg3TzE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Just wanted to let the record show this was not true. Stevie was the man and Cat was #2. Yao was a rookie with butterfingers trying to get use to the league. Yao couldn't get open and we are still too familiar with this as it still happens to this day. Steve took Yao under his wing and took up for Yao when he was receiving cheap shots from other bigs. They were like big brother and little brother. It was a sad day to see this duo get broke up.
Forreal. I wish someone can show me where . . .the star of a team 'stepped' aside for an unproven rookie. Yao was raw. Yao couldn't seal his man . .. [that is something people was b*ching about last time he was playing] HOWEVAH! The passing from Yao to steve and Cat was something to see Yao's jump shot and passing were at their best during this era It was very exciting basketball Rocket River
I appreciated his effort but it was pretty obvious early in his career that he was never going to be able to lead a team to a Championship nor was he going to be able to be a role player on one.
Steve Francis Fans Stevie Franchise Maybe you have already heard this, but its good to hear about what this guy is up to these days. It was back in November, but it was the most recent news I could find on him.
I remember seeing him interviewed during a Rockets game and he said he's enjoying time with the family and was hoping to get back in the NBA next season. I also remember before the season that he was saying a few teams were looking at him. Personally, I think hes done or he would have got on a team by now.
