How many other states have people who know what the state flower is, or the state tree? It's also nice to see our state flag flying proudly beside the US flag. That's not something you see elsewhere.
When you said "we" get it, that "you" (Texans) have no desire...(the rest crap) So is this a lie? "I was born in Texas and have lived here the vast majority of my life" Why would you refer to Texans, including yourself as you claimed, as "you" and not "we" ?
Internationally speaking, Texas, along with California and New York are the most recognized states. I travel the world A LOT and everyone knows Texas.. even some of the indigenous river tribes in the Amazon. Usually I get a wild west reference that's followed by a gunshot sound.
This is true...but for the most part they know of Texas because of the 80s show called DALLAS  I tend to associate any kind of "pride" (Texas, American, etc) with illiterate brain washed lower class people.
first part, westerns classic, more-so-than the show Dallas. pride means illiterate brain washed lower class? interesting. Guess i should punch my dad in the gut and call him white trash when he told me he was proud of me.
So your dad is proud of you just because you are a Texan? I was only half joking about what I said, lighten up people!
I am a Texan because I was born here and I've lived here for the majority of my life. I have no emotional attachment to this fact and rarely, if ever, do I identify with or want to be associated with the idea of the typical Texan. Hence the us versus them speak. I can't stand the pride, politics, and\or hillbilly\redneck that is associated with being a Texan. There are some things about Texas that I really like and will miss but as soon as my kids are grown, we are out of here.
i have pride in myself so i'm illiterate and from a lower class...maybe i should just kick him in the junk. I was lightened...hell, it was only a gut shot.
I would say punching your dad in the gut is what makes you illiterate and lower class. In the middle and upper class, the best way to get back at your dad is to make a lot more money than him.
It's normal. People all over the world slap the name "Texas" on something to market it, often with pretty good success. They start a mediocre chain restaurant in Louisville, call it "Texas Roadhouse", and it succeeds. They put up big signs all over upstate New York advertising "Texas Hots" (Chili dogs). For people who live in lesser places and are desperate for something as cool as Texas, it's good marketing.
